What the club says: Essendon Country Club is situated in Bedwell Park in the scenic, rolling countryside of rural Hertfordshire in the South East of England. With two beautiful 18-hole parkland golf courses, a 9 hole pitch & putt, and two grass practice and teaching grounds. On the 7,090 yard course the 4th tee of 650 yards is one of the longest in the country.

Nice course - worth a visit

Annual day out disaster
If you can carry the ball 200 yards do not play this gaff, you will hit a good shot down the middle over a blind ridge where you ball will be in a man made ditch that you are unaware of. Mickey Mouse course (in terrible condition due to the warm weather but they can’t help that).There is no obvious way to mange your game around here, absolute biff track.
We paid £100 for this nonsense, worst ‘annual day out’ ever

Definitely worth a visit
Old course played. Very enjoyable course, nicely laid out, very attractive views from tee boxes. Greens excellent condition, very fast initially, rain slowed them down a bit later on. Fairways a bit bare in places, common fault this summer. Possibly consider pick and place. Staff excellent. Really helpful and ensured everything ran smooth.Reviewer Rating

Drive well and score!
Had played the New Course once before - this time conditions following heavy rain were very different but enjoyable nevertheless. Well drained ensured limited standing water and although plenty of water underfoot we had a highly enjoyable Threeball. Testimony to a high standard of maintenance and quality of Essendon generally - will be returning soon and play the Old Course as well as the New again!Reviewer Rating

Enjoyable
Played the "new" course with two members, off the white tees. Reasonably long (6506 yards) with some well positioned bunkers. 18 very different holes with some water. Quite a good challenge. Greens were medium fast. Stay out of the rough!Reviewer Rating

Golf Day
We held a golf day for 34 people, from first enquiry to the completion of the day we were looked after superbly. Vera did a fantastic job of arranging our day and looking after us on the actual day I can't thank her enough.All the staff we came across were friendly helpful and welcoming. The starter was excellent, informative and friendly, and complimentary of some of the opening tee shots!
Thank you all especially Vera great day we will be back next year. If they will have us.

A round with friends
From the drive to the car park, to the warm reception at the front entrance, to the bacon roll to the warm up, everything was perfect. We were playing the new course which was in fantastic condition, all 18 holes offered a different challenge and was very fair off the yellows for our mid handicap talent's. Bit wet under foot, but lovely course
Unfortunately very wet on the fairways, and no trollies aloud, but all in all, a lovely course with some challenging holes. The 18th is lovely, drive over water, then keep left!!(Round played: Oct 2021 - Score: 98 Handicap: 24.1)
