Shabby
For a club that has had very little traffic over the past few months the greens are awful. I have always been impressed with Essendon but the current condition of both courses is far from their usual standardsReviewer Rating

We got lost
Trying to get from 9th green to 10th tee. Def recommend a stroke saver for first timers. Head of Golf could not have been more accommodating after speaking to him in the car park. Wonderful course. Looking forward to playing the new course next time.Reviewer Rating

greens great,fast and true even though hollow tinned,fairways nicely cut.great meal in bar,pork ramen and duck goyoza,travelled 100 miles each way.so glad changed crap name (hatfield london cc) Give the old course a go(white tees)beautifully mature,so wish i lived nearer again

Great layout and an interesting, challenging but fair test of golf off white tees. Got away with a few wayward tee shots and kept the same ball till the 18th (d'oh!). Course in reasonable condition considering all the rain and was pretty empty. Greens however were slow and patchy. I'm sure it's better in the Spring. Went for the breakfast and 1 round deal which was good value for money. Overall it's a smart place with good and immaculately clean facilities and friendly and professional staff. The "practice area" is a bit noddy but that's the only real criticism. Would definitely play again when it's not quite as wet.

What a gem of a course, played the New Course yesterday and I must say it really is superb. Great condition and very reasonable. The Clubhouse I was informed has just been completely refurbished and the lunch was excellent. Well worth a visit. The Old course looked great as well as we drove out of the estate

Definitely worth a visit
Old course played. Very enjoyable course, nicely laid out, very attractive views from tee boxes. Greens excellent condition, very fast initially, rain slowed them down a bit later on. Fairways a bit bare in places, common fault this summer. Possibly consider pick and place. Staff excellent. Really helpful and ensured everything ran smooth.Reviewer Rating

Drive well and score!
Had played the New Course once before - this time conditions following heavy rain were very different but enjoyable nevertheless. Well drained ensured limited standing water and although plenty of water underfoot we had a highly enjoyable Threeball. Testimony to a high standard of maintenance and quality of Essendon generally - will be returning soon and play the Old Course as well as the New again!Reviewer Rating

Not quiet as good as it thinks it is, but still worth a visit.
Essendon thinks it's a premier venue but falls down on several points. The old course needs some serious TLC. The bunkers are pretty awful. The greens appeared to have been flooded so were very soft, well beyond receptive. The fairways needed a good trim too. The new course is in much better condition, although the "famous" second greens appear to have been abandoned. The clubhouse needs an upgrade, it's looking very tired inside. They are also charging preium rates to play it which aren't fully justified.Reviewer Rating

very wet and lots of mud. some leaves cleared but could have done with more being cleared from the rough near fairways as lots a couple of balls in leaves within 10 yds of fairways. Greens inconsistent in that some were taking a short iron and stopping and others bounced on so difficult to judge approaches. Greens were being treated and staff had very squeaky equipment which they seemed to wait until top of the backswing to start moving.

Good course but a bit dry
A good parkland course. Each hole separate from others. The ground was quite dry and recovering from a very dry summer. Some bare lies on fairways. Played as a match against Essendon so cost was good value.(Round played: Oct 2018 - Score: 85 Handicap: )

Well presented course
Played the new course on a charity day and found the facility to a high standard. Very nice and friendly staff. The course was in great condition and very picturesque. Well worth a visit.(Round played: Sep 2017 - Score: 94 Handicap: 19.4)

The condition of the course was superb in the spring sunshine and the winter work on the greens have paid off as they are the best greens I have played in 2 years. The greens run true and fast for this time of year. I would highly recommend a round on the old course.

Lovely course, a little bit more forgiving than the old course, but the rough is still punishing and the layout of many holes requires you to think about the shot you are taking on.

Course is currently in lovely condition - new owners clearly spending some money! It's great that non members can now play the New Course - the 17th to the A greens is one of the nicest par 4's I've seen. At £39 a round it's fair value

Having only ever played the Old Course which is a gem in Hertfordshire, the chance to play the new course was very exciting. I didn't think the old course could be beaten but the new course has proved a strong competitor. The course is very well maintained with carpet like fairways and glass like greens. The 644 yard par 5 fourth is well designed with a lake before the green and the Par 4 17th means that you can start to relax because you have almost finished. A must for any golfer. 10/10.
