Over priced!!!

Awful condition
The course was branded as one of the top 10 in Hertfordshire. It was expensive. In summary the course was the wettest underfoot I have played on in 30 years. The course should have been shut. Everywhere was that bad we walked in after 14 holes. Something we have never done. Really disappointed and will not be going back.Reviewer Rating

course was very wet and boggy greens were in a terrible condition lots of bare patches and moss worse i have played on for a long time like a municipal pitch and putt course

Annual day out disaster
If you can carry the ball 200 yards do not play this gaff, you will hit a good shot down the middle over a blind ridge where you ball will be in a man made ditch that you are unaware of. Mickey Mouse course (in terrible condition due to the warm weather but they can’t help that).There is no obvious way to mange your game around here, absolute biff track.
We paid £100 for this nonsense, worst ‘annual day out’ ever

very wet and lots of mud. some leaves cleared but could have done with more being cleared from the rough near fairways as lots a couple of balls in leaves within 10 yds of fairways. Greens inconsistent in that some were taking a short iron and stopping and others bounced on so difficult to judge approaches. Greens were being treated and staff had very squeaky equipment which they seemed to wait until top of the backswing to start moving.

Fantastic greens, quick & hard to read.

Not quiet as good as it thinks it is, but still worth a visit.
Essendon thinks it's a premier venue but falls down on several points. The old course needs some serious TLC. The bunkers are pretty awful. The greens appeared to have been flooded so were very soft, well beyond receptive. The fairways needed a good trim too. The new course is in much better condition, although the "famous" second greens appear to have been abandoned. The clubhouse needs an upgrade, it's looking very tired inside. They are also charging preium rates to play it which aren't fully justified.Reviewer Rating

Two good tracks
The Old Course is traditional parkland, the new is more open and has the unique? factor of two greens on 15 of it's holes.Both are a challenge but the new course is less punishing for higher handicap golfers.
The clubhouse is large and quite impressive, but feels rather corporate and could do with a lick of paint and some new furniture. The changing rooms are tatty at best, but the plunge pool in the showers is worth a visit.

Nice course with good greens but a little short on length

Good course but a bit dry
A good parkland course. Each hole separate from others. The ground was quite dry and recovering from a very dry summer. Some bare lies on fairways. Played as a match against Essendon so cost was good value.(Round played: Oct 2018 - Score: 85 Handicap: )

Nice course

Enjoyable course and well maintained throughout. Very playable. Played it twice and it does seem to have a lot of traffic on the course - the car park is always rammed suggestion its very very popular and has lots of members! Feels a touch impersonal if I be honest - we felt like one of many sheep going through reception and bar. However the mens has a relaxation pool/hot bath afterwards and that alone would bring me back. More golf clubs should facilitate one!

The changing rooms are the thing that desperately need a revamp. The course is now looking and playing great but the changing rooms need a facelift and the japanese bath is no longer the feature it used to be. It's not as hot as it used to be and it desperately needs refusbishment

Booked for 3 ball on line. £20 instead of £30. Tried to add a 4th player when at the club. They wanted to charge £30 for the 4th player since he didn't use the online deal. We said we'd amend the online booking to add the 4th player and get the £20 deal. They were ok with that. The new owners seem to be a bit too Beaurocratic. This on a day when there were about 4 groups out on the course and it was raining with the prospect of sleet and snow. They obviously don't need the money if they are happy to risk losing a sale through such inflexiblity
