Home Course

The least favoured of the 3 layouts but Beaches has challenges all of its own - notably the 4th which off the yellows is a daunting par4 - go 30 yards back and play of the whites and its a less challenging par 5!

Love the place, a proper course!

To me Forest Pines is a proper course, one you?d expect to see on TV (and you do on Sky sometimes) and one which tests your golfing ability in all ways. Playing these three nines in the summer sun is a joy with the sun highlighting the tall pines and the undulating greens protected by well thought out bunkering. Added to the lovely flower arrangements, the good putting green and professional starter, you have a great golfing venue. The only bit which wasn't up to normal standards were some fairways had been damaged by badgers and some tee boxes badly need recovering, but with the numbers playing these courses it is a wonder you can play it all. It's a superb mixture of challenges, my favourite nines being beeches and Forest but Pines is millimetres behind. Hole 3 on beeches, hole 9 on Forest amongst my favourites on how they look to the eye. The golf bar was great, but more staff needed at busy times to help the girls in there. Hotel absolutely fine, good rooms, TVs, food and a decent pool and spa too. Overall a great weekend golfing venue, but also one you should drive to just to play all three nines in summer, you won't be disappointed.

In poor condition

Fairways and bunkers in terrible condition. hardly any sand in bunkers, fairways look liked they've been churned up by a tractor, also very scabby.
Greens are fantastic though

GREAT VENUE WITH 3 CHALLENGING 9'S

GREAT VENUE WITH 3 9 HOLE COURSES. WE PLAYED ALL 3 COMBINATIONS. FOREST/PINES HAS HIGHEST SLOPE RATING OF 149. COURSES IN FAB CONDITION , ALL ARE TREE LINES WITH NARROW FAIRWAYS WHICH IS WHY SLOPE IS SO HIGH. GREENS SUPERB AND DIFFICULT TO READ. A LITTLE SLOW OVER WEEKEND BUT COURSES ARE BUSY SO TO BE EXPECTED

Fantastic course well worth a visit. Facilities first class even if bar prices were expensive but expected that at this venue. Worth a taxi ride into Brigg for cheaper beer at less than half price :-)

Millionaires golf. Teed off at 2.30 and saw no other golfers on a warm sunny day with the course in excellent condition.

Not up to expectation

I had high hopes for this course / complex, but they weren't really met. Rave reviews i've read over the years and it's appearances in top100 lists etc left me expecting a lot. Full 5hr round 1st day (Sunday). But got out early the Monday with no hindrances in front so managed 4 hrs. No marshalling on-course to help move on slow play. No chipping area, but there is a range and good putting area (albeit not reflecting the on-course greens). The three 9's i would say are virtually indistinguishable from each other, and indeed you could say similar about a lot of the holes. Different 9's were well marked out. Okay the timing of our visit was end of April when the greens have all fairly recently been worked and so in 2-3 weeks time i may have had a different experience with them but because the courses are so heavily used, the wear and tear is very evident. GUR all over the place for patchy/grassless areas on fairways. And you'll find yourself after many decent shots sitting in similar areas that are not marked GUR! The course layout in general is very good and if it wasn't murdered with such heavy footfall and traffic everything would be much better i'm sure. Carefully designed hazard locations make it really tricky if you're not quite on your game. Where there isn't sand, there's water, and everywhere else there are trees you can't play over. Greens were very bobbley on our visit and can imagine if smooth and in the height of summer would be extremely difficult but atleast hopefully true. The pin placements were very tricky too... nobody really made more than 1 or 2 putts per round outside of about 7-8 feet, and several 3&4 putts talked about on the nighttime. Hotel rooms were quite nice. Hotel nice enough but nothing special. Drinks very pricey... ?5.30 - ?5.80 for pints? Service was fine other than some not very friendly bar-staff in the main bar on the evening. Food was a set 3 course for us with a few options. Was okay. Certainly nobody was raving about it. Basically, from a trip i was really looking forward to, i'm thinking it's unlikely i'd go back. Disappointed.

Despite yesterday's deluge course was in good condition with only a few puddles in the odd bunker. Greens predictably receptive!
