Very enjoyable parkland course with a friendly bunch of members and staff. All of the par 4s were classic 'risk/reward' golf that presented their own problems - well maybe not the 8th as that can easily be reached in 2 - but the rest of them were challenging. The greens were also very consistent and reasonably quick. I didn't find them to be exceptionally fast as others have noted but it had rained all morning before we got there so that was to be expected.

Lovely woodland track with some very interesting holes, particularly on the back nine where several lakes come into play. The staff were also very friendly in both the clubhouse and Pro Shop. I'd certainly play here again.

I played last weekend in a Winter Open competition and this was only my second visit to Fairwood, the last one having been about six years ago. The course has definitely changed in that time because of a large number of new water features out there. The course was at full length with no temporary greens or mats in play which was great for the time of year - my own course in Cardiff is currently on temps and drains nowhere near as good as Fairwood does. But a note of caution for those of us who aren't big hitters off the tee - as this is quite a long track the softer fairways meant there was very little run on the ball so it does play long at this time of year.

Played here during the last week of October 2012. It's a mature course that is more 'woodland' than 'parkland' in many places. Despite the large amount of rainfall in the days leading up to our round the course was more than playable and had drained well. As others have mentioned - yes the greens here are very good and weren't that slow either despite the previous days downpour. Favourite hole was the 14th - a quirky hole with a bank of trees about 100 yards in front of the green that makes your approach shot difficult. The dogleg left on the 3rd also worthy of a mention.

Although I really enjoyed playing here on 10-4-12, I found it a little flat and not very challenging. The back nine are a lot better and more interesting. The course was immaculate and greens really fast and true. Putting was a delight on them.
I would defo return, but something is lacking however well worth the 20 pounds green fee. Found everyone very friendly, even returned a sweater to me at home which I had left in the hired golf bag.Overall Id give this course a good 8 out of 10.

Played here in February 2012 - impressed with how dry the course was considering it's woodland/parkland golf, no temps or tee mats! We played off the yellow boxes which wasn't too long but looking at how far back the white boxes were it's clear this would be a very different course off the championship tees. Greens were very good and ran true, and the course was well presented for the time of year. Also a big 'thank you' to David and Jeff - two members who let us make up a 4 ball with them while giving us some insider tips!

Championship Course it isn't! Pleasant parkland course but not very challenging - greens are good (played as 2 ball in March 2012), fairways clean but not much variation and holes are not overly long. Be aware if you are English as some of the members let a 3 ball through in front of us but refused to let us through from the 6th onward! By the 12th we just skipped 13/14 it was getting ridiculous. Pleasant day spoiled. Paid only £15 each through internet so fair rating Value for money.

This is fast becoming one of my favourite parkland courses in South Wales. It was my third visit, and just like the previous two occasions it was immaculately presented. The greens also ran very fast and true.

Played at Fairwood the same weekend as the Masters and the greens were almost as fast as Augusta's. Really good parkland with some really tricky shots over water.
