Too many blind holes, and the middle section of the course is more scrub than golf course. Not for beginners or high handicapper.

Good Value Course

Good value golf course which enjoys great scenery over the Lancashire Countryside. Front 9 is better than the back 9 which is a bit tight with a shared fairway although the Par 3 16th is a pretty and challenging hole. Good practice facilities and pro shop.

Good course

Good little course some very good risk and reward holes a bit tricky from hole 10 to 15 as the fairways are quiet narrow but overall a good course.

Great course that as seen money spent on it since our last visit some months ago. The greens were good if a little slow.

Course was good, quite challenging if you have never played before due to many blind holes. Club shop was closed when we got there so couldn't get a course map. Overall would lay there again though as would enjoy more second time around

Do not play in wet conditions as the winter greens are a hole on the middle of the fairway. But nice scenery and would be good in summer as the greens looked great

Tis course is fine if you like you up and down fairways parellel with each other, with no variety, apart from the 1st, 16th (signature hole) and 18th.
I would not suggest playing here unless you really can't get a game anywhere else.
Clubhouse drinks, food and ambience are really very good. The course rubbish for £30 at weekend.

Scary

Good Course ruined on the back 9 by the criss crossing narrow fairways. Balls being shot allover the place. My friend had one land within 3ft of where he was stood on the fairway. and several other balls coming quite close. Pace of play was very slow which caused alot of hold ups. Had 2 women hitting balls within short distances of us who must of also got frustrated with the delays. Took 4hrs 45mins in a buggy as a 2 ball just shows how long the delays where. Pro shop and staff very friendly.

Top Heathland Course

Dunscar is a great heathland course, played on the side of the Pennines, there's hardly ever a flat lie.
It's a great challenges of golf, some lovely par 3's, a good mixture of par 4's & 5's. Greens looked superb, but were heavily sanded today, which made them a little bit slow, but they'll be superb in the summer.
The addition of the pond in front of the third tee is definitely a good move, it was a bit of an eyesore before.
Well worth a visit for some good golf & outstanding views.

I have grown to like this course more and more. They have spent quite a lot of time getting things right here and if you have not played it for a while you will be surprised on how well it plays now. The greens are great and the addition of a water hazard and a few extra bunkers have helped.

Good challenge

A really nice moorland course with a great variety of holes.
Be aware of the weather as there can quite often be a morning mist/fog that hangs around a bit.
It's picked out across the bottom of the pennines, so there doesn't seem to be a flat lie on the course.
The first hole a short par 4 lulls you into a false sense of security, but its amazing how often the farmers field out of bounds tight left gobbles up your ball.
It's a superb course & very often very competitively priced on Golf Now.
Well worth a visit.

Top heathland course

Dunscar is an excellent heathland course & is always in great condition.
It's a challenging track woven across the lower Pennine hills, which means you rarely have a flat lie. Therefore position off the tee can be crucial at times.
The rough isn't overly penal, but the coarse heathland grass can make it difficult to get out of at times.
The greens are superb, flat & true, even if some of them are like putting on the side of a hill.
The welcome is always friendly, all in all a great experience.
