What the club says: At 5982 yds it is not a short course and you need to pace yourself accordingly. Grass growth on the course is sturdy and there is an abundance of heather and gorse. As the course is quite open to the elements, the wind can often be a tough challenge, very similar to a links course with swirls, eddies and gusts that you would normally associate with a seaside venue. It is not uncommon to see a herd of deer whilst playing a round and encountering a number of pheasants is not unusual.

Top Heathland Course
Dunscar is a great heathland course, played on the side of the Pennines, there's hardly ever a flat lie. It's a great challenges of golf, some lovely par 3's, a good mixture of par 4's & 5's. Greens looked superb, but were heavily sanded today, which made them a little bit slow, but they'll be superb in the summer.
The addition of the pond in front of the third tee is definitely a good move, it was a bit of an eyesore before.
Well worth a visit for some good golf & outstanding views.

Good challenge
A really nice moorland course with a great variety of holes.Be aware of the weather as there can quite often be a morning mist/fog that hangs around a bit.
It's picked out across the bottom of the pennines, so there doesn't seem to be a flat lie on the course.
The first hole a short par 4 lulls you into a false sense of security, but its amazing how often the farmers field out of bounds tight left gobbles up your ball.
It's a superb course & very often very competitively priced on Golf Now.
Well worth a visit.

Top heathland course
Dunscar is an excellent heathland course & is always in great condition. It's a challenging track woven across the lower Pennine hills, which means you rarely have a flat lie. Therefore position off the tee can be crucial at times.
The rough isn't overly penal, but the coarse heathland grass can make it difficult to get out of at times.
The greens are superb, flat & true, even if some of them are like putting on the side of a hill.
The welcome is always friendly, all in all a great experience.

Cracker
Dunscar is a little cracker. It's up & down a bit, with a number of holes on the side of slopes, but it's a cracker. There are a handful of blind drives, but there's nothing too ominous on the other side, so you can go for the marker post. It's tight in a couple of places with OOB markers, as I found to my cost!
There's hardly a flat putt on the course, but the greens are superb. Bunkers excellent too.
Top this off with great views, friendly staff & members & all for £10 at 7am on Golf Now, what's not to like?

First visit
Played on Sunday 7th July 2019. Quite a tight course but longer than expected and I found it very challenging (in fact it beat me up quite badly). The par 3's seem extremely difficult, but the par 5's slightly boring. I played in the evening so the Course was quiet but I did catch up the 3 ball ahead eventually. A lot of holes cross each other which is off-putting when driving, for fear of endangering people. Sadly there was a group of 5 playing together which eventually fed back to me and caused delays. They were also very loud, shouting and cheering and even throwing putters at missed Puts. I did enquire after the round (the bar had shut though and few staff) and was assured they were members who played regularly. They should know better then so a slight concern this sort of behaviour is tolerated. 9Iassume a 4-ball is still the Max?)

Good Value Course
Good value golf course which enjoys great scenery over the Lancashire Countryside. Front 9 is better than the back 9 which is a bit tight with a shared fairway although the Par 3 16th is a pretty and challenging hole. Good practice facilities and pro shop.

A cracker
A cracking course. Well laid out across the undulating terrain with lots of swales & hollows. Yes, there are a few blind drives, but it adds to the fun.Greens are in superb condition, can't say the same for the bunkers.
Top this off with the views of the surrounding countryside & you have a course not to be missed.

Hidden Gem - Seak it out!
Good challenge for all levels of golfer, very friendly members and staff with excellent breakfast!Course in good condition considering the lack of rain, greens run true and challenging approach shots.

Fantastic course
Brilliant course, a few fairways get a bit close to each other, but well worth a trip. Greens are fantastic.(Round played: Jul 2018 - Score: 91 Handicap: 16.6)

Good course
Good little course some very good risk and reward holes a bit tricky from hole 10 to 15 as the fairways are quiet narrow but overall a good course.

Fantastic course worth visiting
"Fantastic course worth visiting", "Hidden gem in the Peak district" its hilly but walkable, some really good holes. Although we got a lecture of a very sexist rude woman due to us being on the course when its ladies day.(Round played: Jul 2017 - Score: 93 Handicap: 16.6)

Good club, Good pro, Good golf
