Likeness to Forest of Arden and Belfry!
Played today in the sunshine, what a great course (a real resort course designed for the societies!).I played 5 years ago and didn't really rave about it at the time but now 2nd time round I can really see the appeal.
Lots of similarity to the Forest of Arden's front 9 with loads of water everywhere, the PGA at the Belfry, and The Springs in Oxfordshire. The last hole with the mid-lake fountain is reminiscent of the Brabazon. The entrance to the club house is just like at the Belfry too.
Some really top notch holes like the par 5 4th which was a par 4 when i last played. The par 5 8th is wonderful. The green is incredible, the slope is the steepest I have ever seen and literally split my sides laughing as I 4 putt going up the slope twice and ended up with an 8 - but really loved that hole!
I was a last minute to a society and loved it. It is really well catered for large groups = on the veranda having bacon rolls/coffee and afterwards a really good mass catering of hunters chicken, chips and salad.
Think this would be a great overnighter and play both courses.
Small 6 bay driving range which is ideal.
I scored horribly on the front nine (9 points) but could see what a great course it is even though i took my C game today.
I'll be back.

Great package, couple of tweeks and its amongst the best value!
We stayed the weekend on a Golfbreaks package at 179pp which is exceptional value for the quality of this venue. It was one of the hottest weekends of the year in June 2023 and this is one of the best venues to be at when its sunny and hot. Lots of good air con and sun verandas everywhere. The championship course has been altered slightly and the ominous first hole has been made much easier. The first green has been extended back towards the fairway so you can now reach it quite easily from a 200 yard tee shot. For me that is a pity as it was a make or break brutal first hole and now its a points hole for a decent player. Anyway, that aside the course was lovely and as challenging as always. The greens were quick and in lovely condition and the fairways were still quite lush. After the round we always enjoy the lovely clubhouse and veranda which is a massive plus side to this venue. Also they have plenty of bar staff so you do not have to wait too long to be served, another plus side. Dinner was a two course choice of around 5 options, this is the only part we thought was a bit disappointing as many of the menu items enjoyed in the past had gone and what was left was not massively exciting, hopefully they will look at feedback and offer more golfer type options. The accommodation here is only second to when we stay at Close House GC, its lovely and very nicely done and close to a ten out of ten for this part. The signature course on the Sunday was as open as always and is somehow affected by the wind much more than the championship course. Do not expect an easy ride on this course as the greens were hard and fast so staying on them was very challenging. So overall this is a great place for a weekend of golf. I would say our only small only gripe was that there is a really good halfway house but because the guy doing it has to tour the course on a buggy selling drinks too, we found the halfway house closed at a time when we really needed hydration halfway round. So if you see the drinks buggy buy drinks as you cannot guarantee the halfway house will be open.Reviewer Rating

Mr B
Both courses are very good albeit when we played had standing water in places. We stayed for the weekend and a party of 4 , played both courses. However the hotel is not great. Quite unhelpful when booking out for golf and seem to be only there for the members. The food is ok but from 7pm the place emptied and you need to book a taxi to go out. We arrived back at 10:50pm with 4 others on the bar and quite abruptly told you can have one drink only as we are shutting the bar. The breakfast was ok so in all would definitely play the courses again but would not consider a weekend stay.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic set up, really interesting course
My first visit to this venue and once you get to the end of the drive, you begin to feel you're in a place of quality and professionalism. Great clubhouse, pro shop, bar and verandas all fantastic for enjoying the venue. Brian in the pro shop was an absolute star, talked us through how the day would work and even came to the first tee and gave us some tips. We played the Championship Course and nearly every hole was a pleasure to play. The first 9 all really challenging and thought provoking with plenty of water (which I really like). Hole 10 through to 13 needed a little bit of a tidy up to match the first 9, but 14 onwards you get back into manicured, challenging and photographic layouts. The 18th hole is a beast to finish on and will confuse those who want to smash everything miles as it needs skill and patience to par. The food afterwards was really lovely too and the staff were all very happy and polite.Overall a lovely experience which we will be repeating with our society soon. Thanks to Rachel there for organising it and to Brian for just giving us the best customer service experience. You should definitely go and experience the Championship Course at this venue.

Nice Track despite the weather
Played here as a guest, not played since it was Cotgrave Place so amazed how different it was previously. There is still a lot of work taking place including some on the course but this did not take away from the round. Played the Championship, (previously the Open I think) course. Considering the previous weather we had had the main course fairways and greens played well with the greens really catching me out as they were a lot quicker than I expected, and my playing partner. The course now plays in a slightly different direction than I remember but I thought it worked very well, with some holes certainly making you "plot" your way around. Would certainly play here again and would recommend to all. The clubhouse is refreshing in that golf shoes can be worn which makes life a little easier as well as more welcoming. Food and drink very good.(Round played: Mar 2018 - Score: 90 Handicap: 15.5)

Disappointed
Have played here a few times over last couple of years and always been impressed with the facilities and the course. Yesterday, not so much. There's a lot of work taking place around the clubhouse which is understandable out of peak season and to be fair this was not really an issue for our group.
The course was in my opinion poor. The greens weren't in good condition (compared to other courses played recently) and the new layout seems a little haphazard (why play 7 holes of one loop, cross over, play the other loop, then cross over again). Strange. Certain areas of the course also need better walkways and paths ahead of next winter (around the old 17th / 18th especially).
Pace of play was ok for us and good to have space in the bar after for a drink (although the busier this place gets, the less room there will be for everyone).
Used to enjoy coming back here, and might try later in the year once all work has been completed, but others worth a try in the meantime.
