Played the Masters course here, nice little course in a great location. Slight noise from the small planes that use the close by private airport but its pretty peacefull really. Course was in good nick if not particularly challenging. Varied holes considering there were little or no hazards or features. The site looks properous and well kept. Would like to go back and play the other course. No hole layout signage on the tee boxes so playing blind on some holes.

Felt unloved for the invitation open

Never felt it a well organised place, no confirmation email after a telephone booking.

On the day you drive in and start to feel a BUZZ, the clubhouse looks great and the views are excellent, they have a short game area, but we only found out as we past the 8th. The range is £2.50 for 30 balls so you get to warm up.

The course layout is good sadly the greens were shocking and every hole itself looked like it hadn't been changed for a week, greens needed cutting I guess the green staff had the bank holiday weekend off! £23 was good value with added after match carvery, but with a party booked in we got shoved into the terrace bar and felt we were in the way sadly, OH and the food was stone cold and cold yorkies, pretty much summed the day up. £2.40 for a coffee with the added are you members?? I guess being a invitation day we ARE ?? The club website is shocking and useless, sum it up the place feels like it going down hill fast, so much potential with little pride. No sure they will care, far to corporate.

We played the open course on a very warm day. When I went into the pro shop for water I was charged an arm and a leg for it. TOP TIP take your own water and food, otherwise you will be ripped good and proper.
We booked a society day with bacon rolls and coffee etc, this was delivered 45 mins late and when we finaly got it the coffee/tea was cold.
It just seemed to us that the club was out to make as much money from us as possible and didn't care less about the needs of the society. I will not be taking the society back to Cotgrave.

Played here and got the course which used to be 9 holes and has been extended. Charged us full price(£30) and all the greens had been spiked, shocking condition. We travelled from Sheffield to play but if they had told us when we rang up to book about the greens we wouldn't have bothered. Some nice holes but the greens just spoilt it. You could hit the green in regulation then 3 putt, making the game twice as hard. We actually complained after but the person who deals with this sort of thing wasn't there, apparently. I also emailed to complain and got no reply. The best thing for me was the Starter/marshall who was a genuinely nice guy but even he didn't make it worth £30, £15 would have been about right.

Green keepers spoil the day

HAVING BOOKED A TWO DAY STAY WE PLAYED THE SIGNATURE FIRST. ALL WENT WELL TO BEGIN WITH BUT HAVING STARTED THE SECOND NINE WE FOUND THAT THE GREEN KEEPERS HAD DRESSED THE GREENS. THIS DRESSING STUCK TO THE BALL AND MADE PUTTING VIRTUALLY IMPOSSIBLE. WHATEVER THEY HAD USED WAS VERY STICKY AND DARK AND, WITH NO WATER IN THE BALL CLEANERS, MEANT THAT YOUR GOLFING TOWEL, GLOVES ETC WERE ALL COVERED IN THIS MUDDY CONCOCTION.
THE PROFESSIONAL APOLOGISED AND GUARANTEED THAT THE SAME ISSUE WOULD NOT OCCUR ON OUR SECOND DAY BUT NEVERTHELESS SPOILT WHAT SHOILD HAVE BEEN A PLEASANT BREAK.
NOT REALLY GOOD ENOUGH TO SEND OUT GUESTS TO A COURSE THAT WAS NOT READY FOR USE.

Mr B

Both courses are very good albeit when we played had standing water in places. We stayed for the weekend and a party of 4 , played both courses. However the hotel is not great. Quite unhelpful when booking out for golf and seem to be only there for the members. The food is ok but from 7pm the place emptied and you need to book a taxi to go out. We arrived back at 10:50pm with 4 others on the bar and quite abruptly told you can have one drink only as we are shutting the bar. The breakfast was ok so in all would definitely play the courses again but would not consider a weekend stay.

Disappointed

Have played here a few times over last couple of years and always been impressed with the facilities and the course. Yesterday, not so much.

There's a lot of work taking place around the clubhouse which is understandable out of peak season and to be fair this was not really an issue for our group.
The course was in my opinion poor. The greens weren't in good condition (compared to other courses played recently) and the new layout seems a little haphazard (why play 7 holes of one loop, cross over, play the other loop, then cross over again). Strange. Certain areas of the course also need better walkways and paths ahead of next winter (around the old 17th / 18th especially).

Pace of play was ok for us and good to have space in the bar after for a drink (although the busier this place gets, the less room there will be for everyone).

Used to enjoy coming back here, and might try later in the year once all work has been completed, but others worth a try in the meantime.

Played both courses. Nice set up but no grass range. New clubhouse.
Masters course has huge greens and tees were far too far forward. Good condition greens around 7.5 on the stimp which is respectable. Long walks between tees
Open course isn't much harder. Very flat. Never seen so many stakes on a golf course, red, white and yellow. Too many cross ditches.
Bit of a victim of its topography being low lying, this is a beginners facility but in good condition. Not a top 250 course by a long shot but inoffensive enough

Very windy, and greens hard due to frost.
Ok course, with common sense could become easy , driver used once but not needed
Played far more challenging. Was more like target golf, alot of par 4s were 4 iron and wedge.

We Played The Masters or \"members course\" as the members called it due to the fact that they never seem to get a chance to play the superior course \"THE OPEN\" as this is always booked by societies. The Masters has deep rough everywhere just off the fairways (which are too narrow) in my opinion .The sides of the greens have deep rough so that a delicate chip to the flag is not possible only a hard hack and hope shot is available.Overall opinion is that for the £26 price tag you would be better of playing a municipal course .

Played here on 14.02.11. ( Open Course) The course was not in good condition with pitch marks all over a lot of the greens. Also they have taken away the whole of the hedgerow on the 8th/9th hole.
I always look forward to playing here but will no longer travel the short distance to play here. We were charged £40 a round on a Monday. It is well over priced.
The restaurant is very expensive but the pub next down serves great food at a price to suit everyone
