Just three of us today and a splendid game teeing off into the mizzle and sometimes thick fog. Course ran smoothly and true.Reviewer Rating

As nature intended golf to be....
First time for me at Cleeve Hill. I couldn't believe that it faced closure just a few years ago. Old Tom's layout stands the test of time in all weathers- yes, we had all four seasons during our round. Wonderful elevated tees and few bushes and trees offer the novel experience, for me, of being able to find your ball fairly easily. We finished in glorious sunshine elated but exhausted!Reviewer Rating

Must have golfing experience
This is old school golf played at an improving venue with far sighted management and ownership. From the depths of possible closure to a reinvigorated set up. I had never heard of the venue until the campaign to save it and I have them made it a priority to experience the courses in all its glories. Painted stone tee markers plus yardage markers Jean from granite this is not manicured golf. Usually the common is mown and managed by the sheep that free roam with greens protected by small fences. This is an astonishing venue with views over 5 counties in a clear day. Green complexes have been created from medieval castle grounds and history oozes over shot. There are a couple of blind shots but they are well sign posted. Greens are true and fair with protections built into them by the courses designers. I loved the Cleeve experience and cannot wait to return to test myself again. There are loads of local pubs and hotels nearby making a two day trip easily achievable. 100% recommend a return visit. If you are interested in golf course architecture this is a must play venue. I LOVED ITReviewer Rating

perfect conditions despite wet weather
we played in the afternoon to take advantge of twilight rates. information about availability of food at cafe and restaurant was absolutely abysmal and how the cafe could be closed on a school holiday Monday beats me! Despite info to the contrary, the kitchen was serving up bacon and sausage baps at lunchtime so we could have enjoyed a bap before venturing out onto the course. Which was magnificient when all around were carry only or even closed. Great tees, fairways and greens.Reviewer Rating

a great day out
Setting off just after one to tackle all 18 holes taking advantage of the twilight rate. The fairways are grand, the greens remarkable and the views terrific. We were all back by quarter to six as night fell! and found the clubhouse and toilets all shut. A great experience from the off. Before we left we visited the Cotswold Hill Cafe which is now part of the Golf complex; a touch pricey but welcome nevertheless as the canteen is closed at the club. Pizzas are on the menu so fab.Reviewer Rating

Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant
If you like USGA greens , sprinklers and can’t go anywhere apart from in a golf buggy , this isn’t for you. This is a brilliant olde world golf experience- starting 2 holes are average but then just gets better and better and better. Holes 3-8 are good but 9 onwards were fantastic especially 13,15 ,and then par3 16 is as good as anywhere in UK Top100. On a sunny day there are not many better places to play golf - golf that puts a smile on your face . Loved it so much I bought a points membership for 21/22 !Reviewer Rating

A truly hidden gem. On arrival, the place didn’t look anything special and as we found out, the course conditions were a little rough around the edges but those are the only real flaws.A really fantastic, links style course, played way up on a hill top with the best views of any course locally by some distance.
Some really quirky holes which get you talking. Course knowledge isn’t essential but definitely helps as there are a lot of blind shots but markers are well positioned.
The course was riddled with sheep poo but that’s ok as there were none on the greens.
The head pro who welcomed us was absolutely fantastic. Greeted us with a smile and even followed us to the first tee to give us a bit of course information.
Overall, a really really fun course to play. If I lived a little closer, I’d be a regular visitor.

Love this course- and got my first Hole in One!
What a super course. 17th December and such firm fairways. Hardly any mud on my clothes or gear which is outstanding.Love the views and although it is wide open for hitting driver on most holes the short game is a challenge. Many elevatd greens with steep banks and run offs so the biggest challenge to your chipping/short wedges I have encountered in ages.
It is a must play. the views are amazing.
Oh and did I say I 'aced' the 15th. Superb hole over a quarry. 8 iron wind assisted boom!
I sincerely hope one of the bids is successful to keep it going after March.
Old Tom Morris will be turning in his grave!
Such a friendly pro in the shop too.
Can't wait to go back £16 is a bargain. 1/2 the tees were on mats but who cares when you play on such firm fairways!

Do it before you die !
We played the course on a beautiful day which showed this wild course in all its glory without the wind making the golf too difficult. The almost 360*views from this course are worth the ?15 green fee alone.
Of course the greens are not perfect but what would you expect of a course virtually on top of a small mountain.Go & enjoy - it may not be there for much longer.

Don't let anyone tell you this course has got hills on it. yes there are a couple that's all otherwise it is a flat course following the contours of Cleeve Hill and the Cotswolds. Has a putting green but needs a driving range or something to practice at hitting. always dry underfoot here.Reviewer Rating

Great Course
What a fantastic course. Fairways generous and in good condition for mid October. Greens were true and course is a good test for all handicaps. Views are 360 degrees, beautiful on a clear days. Yes there are walkers, mountain bikers but they do not impact on the enjoyment. Clubhouse and changing rooms quirky, probably do with an update; food and drinks excellent and good welcome. Pro was great, and course definitely worth the 1 hour drive.Reviewer Rating
