What the club says: Cleeve Hill is a magnificent heath land course located in an area of outstanding natural beauty. From a commanding position in the Cotswolds, breathtaking views are available over an area taking in the Forest of Dean, Severn Vale, the Malverns - and beyond to the Black Mountains and the Brecons.

Set in 1,000 acres of Cleeve Common, the truly awesome vistas from the course embrace 10,000 years of human occupation - with prehistoric and Roman settlements punctuating a landscape rich in wild flowers. Rare orchids, the Roman snail and various species of butterfly bring added fascination to the scene. For golfers about their business, the setting is idyllic, inspiring and refreshing.

Do it before you die !

We played the course on a beautiful day which showed this wild course in all its glory without the wind making the golf too difficult.
The almost 360*views from this course are worth the ?15 green fee alone.
Of course the greens are not perfect but what would you expect of a course virtually on top of a small mountain.Go & enjoy - it may not be there for much longer.

Wonderful experience - thank you to Dave and Hugh for their warm welcome.
What a course - I have never played so many holes where you're unsighted off the tee -a true inland links test - will be going back for sure. Fair course with very few uneven bounces.

Great Course

What a fantastic course. Fairways generous and in good condition for mid October. Greens were true and course is a good test for all handicaps. Views are 360 degrees, beautiful on a clear days. Yes there are walkers, mountain bikers but they do not impact on the enjoyment. Clubhouse and changing rooms quirky, probably do with an update; food and drinks excellent and good welcome. Pro was great, and course definitely worth the 1 hour drive.

Most enjoyable round ever

Arrived here after reading a few good reviews, and was certainly not let down!! Although the clubhouse can give a bit of a poor first impression, I found the course a genuine treat to play. 8 blind holes really make you think about your shots, but if you follow the marker sticks and get a good hit, you can be rewarded. Great views from the course we're an absolute bonus. I've played some great courses, but this was the one that I genuinely walked away with a smile on my face

Remarkable & Memorable Course

Played here June '19 .

Every once in a while i discover a course that is a revelation & this is one of them .

It's on top of a hill on the highest point in Gloucestershire .Hence you get a combination of incredible far reaching panoramic views ( the best views that i have seen on an inland course) & a course that has endless excellent holes .
A very natural & undulating course & there is a feeling of tranquility ,remoteness & getting away from everything up here.
The holes are very well designed to fit in with the natural contours & the course covers a vast area to the extent that on the farthest part of the course at the 13th green it seems as if you are miles from the clubhouse .
Great collection of par 3's & just when the course starts to feel a little long winded you come across a superb stretch of holes (13 to 16 ) as you turn & head back towards the clubhouse .13 is a par 5 which inclines & then drops down sharply to a green surrounded by mounds as you come over a ridge which reveals even more views ,14 is a brilliant par 4 where you hit up to a marker post then go up & over 2 ridges ,15 a great par 3 across a chasm & 16 another excellent long par three through a funnel of mounds. It feels very evocative on this far section of the course.

Course condition was good in is kept to be natural with the greens being very nice to putt on & the course as far as i can remember is bunkerless.

It feels slightly underwhelming when you arrive ,as is the clubhouse .Yes it's a long & undulating in places walk round but for anyone who hasn't played here before if you pick a sunny day it is absolutely worth it.
An absolute bargain at £12 after 2 p.m.

Fantastic Course

After securing a hot deal for £10, We visited Cleeve Hill without lofty expectations. The pro greeted us warmly and gave us some tips and background to the course. This happened to be the 80th different course I have visited and instantly goes into my top 10.
Admittedly there are a lot of blind shots and the route isn't always the clearest, but wow what a course.
I played with a long hitting golfing partner, so we both experienced the course from different perspectives, we both agreed it was a real challenge.
After 3 days of heavy rain, the course was in great shape. Greens were surprisingly quick and it took us a few holes to adjust. The views are some of the best I have ever experienced, situated right on the edge of the Cotswolds and overlooking Cheltenham and it's racecourse. I plan to make the trip back up Cleeve Hill soon and we have added it to next years Society league's list of venues.

Good Course

Played Cleeve Hill or should I say got blown off Cleeve Hill. Even though the conditions made the course very tough we still had a great time. Into the wind three whacks to the green was a result. Greens where ok and the pro, bar staff were really friendly.

Home course, On top of a huge hill so plays like a links course.
Lots of blind shots into the greens, lots of wind, although can be forgiving off the tee due to no big trees.

A truly unique and rewarding golf experience. Sharing the course with sheep causes you to pause and consider the origins of the game. Course conditions are excellent, layout is challenging, people are friendly, food is good, cost is reasonable ....all in a setting that is scenic and memorable. Only regret: as a visitor to Cheltenham, I'm not able to play Cleeve Hill on a regular basis (with my golf buddies back home).
