Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant
If you like USGA greens , sprinklers and can’t go anywhere apart from in a golf buggy , this isn’t for you. This is a brilliant olde world golf experience- starting 2 holes are average but then just gets better and better and better. Holes 3-8 are good but 9 onwards were fantastic especially 13,15 ,and then par3 16 is as good as anywhere in UK Top100. On a sunny day there are not many better places to play golf - golf that puts a smile on your face . Loved it so much I bought a points membership for 21/22 !Reviewer Rating

LOVE this course. The best in the area when others are waterlogged
This is great fun, amazing views and proper golf. Top 100 English course for £25...what's not to like. Although on top of a hill there is no arduous walking. But a few tricky rocky paths to navigate so not suitable for the 'infirm!'No water hazards, nor out of bounds and relatively few bunkers, but you have wind to contend with and the occasional quarry to lose you ball in!
I travelled 45 mins from Redditch where courses get easily waterlogged - mine was closed today so my first thought was - the sun is out - I'm going to Cleeve Hill!'.
On top of Cleeve hill the fairways are firm and the greens incredibly good and run true.
Can't wait to go back in the summer, especially to tee it up on the summer tees (especially on 18th).
Just beware lots of families walking with little regard for the danger of a stray golf ball. Otherwise 10/10 experience.

Fantastic and Frustrating
To be fair the frustrating part of the title is just because I'm not very good at golf.Scenery isn't going to get much better than on this course. It is stunning all the way around, I've played lots of local course with spectacular scenery and this is probably the best. The members I played with were top notch and I look forward to seeing them again.
The greens were really good except the one which had been previously vandalised which isn't the club fault. There is a lot of evaluation
Fairways and semi rough merge into each other and it isn't always easy to see where the hole goes. With lots of blind shots this is a course which probably should be played twice. When I played it was very windy which isn't uncommon on top of the highest peak of the Cotswolds. This is the closest I've played to links golf, trees are not common here and you rely on the undulations of the land and hope it doesn't throw your ball into deep grass or gorse.
I see why people liken this course to Painswick because of the quarrying activity which has scared the landscape, however it is no where near as tight and is much longer. You need to be smart of the tee here and the driver isn't always the best option as it can land you in trouble even though the courses appears very wide, there is advantages to playing the fairway. Most the rough is fairly short however clumps of it are very thick in areas which did mean we ended up look for balls for a long time in our fourball which I did find frustrating, especially as I lost a few.
This is a course I would recommend playing it will stay with me for a little while. I have good memories.

a great day out
Setting off just after one to tackle all 18 holes taking advantage of the twilight rate. The fairways are grand, the greens remarkable and the views terrific. We were all back by quarter to six as night fell! and found the clubhouse and toilets all shut. A great experience from the off. Before we left we visited the Cotswold Hill Cafe which is now part of the Golf complex; a touch pricey but welcome nevertheless as the canteen is closed at the club. Pizzas are on the menu so fab.Reviewer Rating

Sand traps
Beautiful course with fantastic panoramic views on most holes. Bunkers however in desperate need of sand and the large groups of senior members need some review of their etiquette with regard to letting faster groups through, really spoils the experience when held up for fourteen of eighteen holes.Reviewer Rating

A society MUST
As they advertise, possibly the best picturesque course in EnglandThe views on this course from most holes is breathtaking
The staff here are superb. Great service from the guys in the golf shop, clubhouse and course
The course itself is in great condition, the greens are exceptional. My complements to the ground staff.
The course itself is challenging to say the say the least. Especially today in the wind.

A truly hidden gem. On arrival, the place didn’t look anything special and as we found out, the course conditions were a little rough around the edges but those are the only real flaws.A really fantastic, links style course, played way up on a hill top with the best views of any course locally by some distance.
Some really quirky holes which get you talking. Course knowledge isn’t essential but definitely helps as there are a lot of blind shots but markers are well positioned.
The course was riddled with sheep poo but that’s ok as there were none on the greens.
The head pro who welcomed us was absolutely fantastic. Greeted us with a smile and even followed us to the first tee to give us a bit of course information.
Overall, a really really fun course to play. If I lived a little closer, I’d be a regular visitor.

this is the best course ever
Don't let anyone tell you this course has got hills on it. yes there are a couple that's all otherwise it is a flat course following the contours of Cleeve Hill and the Cotswolds. Has a putting green but needs a driving range or something to practice at hitting. always dry underfoot here.Reviewer Rating

Remarkable & Memorable Course
Played here June '19 .Every once in a while i discover a course that is a revelation & this is one of them .
It's on top of a hill on the highest point in Gloucestershire .Hence you get a combination of incredible far reaching panoramic views ( the best views that i have seen on an inland course) & a course that has endless excellent holes .
A very natural & undulating course & there is a feeling of tranquility ,remoteness & getting away from everything up here.
The holes are very well designed to fit in with the natural contours & the course covers a vast area to the extent that on the farthest part of the course at the 13th green it seems as if you are miles from the clubhouse .
Great collection of par 3's & just when the course starts to feel a little long winded you come across a superb stretch of holes (13 to 16 ) as you turn & head back towards the clubhouse .13 is a par 5 which inclines & then drops down sharply to a green surrounded by mounds as you come over a ridge which reveals even more views ,14 is a brilliant par 4 where you hit up to a marker post then go up & over 2 ridges ,15 a great par 3 across a chasm & 16 another excellent long par three through a funnel of mounds. It feels very evocative on this far section of the course.
Course condition was good in is kept to be natural with the greens being very nice to putt on & the course as far as i can remember is bunkerless.
It feels slightly underwhelming when you arrive ,as is the clubhouse .Yes it's a long & undulating in places walk round but for anyone who hasn't played here before if you pick a sunny day it is absolutely worth it.
An absolute bargain at £12 after 2 p.m.

Fantastic Course
After securing a hot deal for £10, We visited Cleeve Hill without lofty expectations. The pro greeted us warmly and gave us some tips and background to the course. This happened to be the 80th different course I have visited and instantly goes into my top 10.Admittedly there are a lot of blind shots and the route isn't always the clearest, but wow what a course.
I played with a long hitting golfing partner, so we both experienced the course from different perspectives, we both agreed it was a real challenge.
After 3 days of heavy rain, the course was in great shape. Greens were surprisingly quick and it took us a few holes to adjust. The views are some of the best I have ever experienced, situated right on the edge of the Cotswolds and overlooking Cheltenham and it's racecourse. I plan to make the trip back up Cleeve Hill soon and we have added it to next years Society league's list of venues.
