Great value, worth a visit.

Brandon is a really good course and an interesting layout. However it is a bit scruffy in places, perhaps as a lack of investment as it's council owned. With a bit more spent on it it could be great.

Lovely Parkland Setting Course

Unfortunately the greens have suffered this summer (2018) and are in poor condition, fairways are staring to recover. Very good value for twilight green fees. Hopefully the greens will recover for next spring / summer.

Very poor greens

Most of the greens were in exceptionally poor condition. They had lots of bare brown areas and some had ruts. They obviously hadn't been watered or managed properly over the summer.Wont be playing again here for a long time.

Course in good order, excepting some greens, which is a shame. Great nick for October.

Very stinky clubhouse

Good course, which could do with some maintenance and a cut. Good practice facilities but poor clubhouse in general and very smely.

The car park is a bit of a walk from the facilities (but you are due to play golf and walking is a key part of the plan). I was able to get the twilight rate of £10 which is great value for this course. The layout is interesting with some strong par 4's. The par 3's were a similar distance. The 10th and 11th feel a bit separate to the rest of the course (maybe these holes were added since the original design). The condition is very good with a consistent layer of grass on the fairways and a nice cut of the semi-rough. If you are wide you will be in deep rough, but that is very wide. The greens had a few spike marks but were otherwise nice to putt on.

Having seen this on one of the hot deals, we booked it for under ?8.50 for 18 holes (absolute bargain) when we arrived the car park was pretty busy (always a good sign) conditions for golf were almost perfect albeit a little soft underfoot which obviously meant due to Brandon Woods location that at least five of the fairways were going to be waterlogged and unplayable. This didn't detract from the general good upkeep of the remaining greens. It is a fairly open course, making it easy enough for high handicappers, but also challenging for mid to low players.

Although the fairways were in good condition there was a lot of grass clippings left on the course. I was constantly cleaning off my studs trying to get some grip. The greens had been dressed and tyned and were very slow.some of the bunkers were not raked and didn't have much sand in them. The clubhouse was goodand staff were very helpful. No complaints there.
