What the club says: Coventry Golf Club was formed in 1887 with a 9 hole course laid out on Whitley Common. The Club moved to its present site at Finham Park 24 years later in 1911. The course was designed by Tom Vardon with his famous brother Harry marking out the bunkers. It was formally opened in 1912 with Harry Vardon and James Braid playing exhibition matches. Over the years the course has undergone many changes and improvement, most notably to re-site the bunkers to combat the changing game.
Today Coventry Golf Club course is 6590 yards in length with a Par of 73 and SSS of 72 (white tees) made up of 5 par 5’s, 9 par 4’s and 4 par 3’s.
The course can boast a unique and varied collection of trees suitable for a parkland golf course. The various plantings have resulted in all 18 holes being tree-lined and very attractive to play. Set in 120 acres of leafy Warwickshire this aesthetically attractive, gently undulating course is a pleasure to play all-year-round. The diversity of colours throughout the year is truly amazing.
Coventry Golf Club has become one of the most attractive inland courses in the country and provides an exciting challenge to all golfers. It has over the years hosted many Professional and Amateur tournaments. The quality of the course has been recognised by the R & A who in recent years have chosen Coventry Golf Club to host a Regional Open Qualifier.

Revisiting one of my favourite courses
Coventry’s two main assets are its course design and the variation of shots that it demands from you. Each bunker, swale or water hazard feels intentionally placed to create challenge but to reward a well played shot. This makes for a highly enjoyable 18 holes with no weaknesses, but many notable holes that will remain long in the memory. Add to this the exceptional quality of the greens, the excellent overall condition of the course and the hospitality you receive, and you truly have one of the best golfing experiences you can find (especially in this price range!). I’ve come away with these feelings each of the 3 times that I’ve played here and I can’t wait to visit again.Reviewer Rating

FANTASTIC
Fourth time playing here but first since COVID. All I can say is I loved this course before and now it’s even better. The whole course is in absolutely amazing condition. Teeing areas flat and well maintained, fairways top drawer, rough all cut to the same length challenging yet playable with ease of riding your ball, bunkers great and the greens are as good as you will find anywhere. 5 starReviewer Rating

Course itself is really good, some nice holes...greens excellent..The rough is terrible though, one bad shot and your balls gone, swallowed
up by the course. Also staff and members here can be unfriendly.
No golf etiquette observed many times and extremely slow play.

Nice parkland course with a few extra nice holes
Enjoyed on a hot summer day today.Picked a busy day but still the pace was pretty good.
Lots of trees to avoid, good greens, but a few really nice holes stood out for me like the par 3 7th (which I suspect is over a bomb crater it is than steep) and with trees around it is a tricky shot.
Loved the 2 holes around 11 and 12, the 12th green is a small but picture postcard green! Loved it.
Overall £40 with a county card is about right for a well maintained course - absolutely no complaints!
Nice balcony bar over looking the 18th
High Slope rating of 139 seems high for a 6215 yard par 71 - I guess due to the amount of trees??
Scored 88 (31 points)

Solid golf course with great holes.
Lots of trees and course planning is needed but a real sense of satisfaction if you respect the trees. Good maintainence. A real golf course and a real test of golf. One of my favourite in Coventry by a long way. The 7th par 3 hole is a knee trembler and in general there are some well looked after greens. Friendly staff, lovely club shop and club house with a beautiful food and a nice balcony.Reviewer Rating

A rainy day
The autumn colours were starting to show, pit there was no sunshine. On a dank day my golf was inconsistent but as ever at Coventry the greens were in good condition and difficult to read. The course played longer because of the wet conditions but that didn't impact on the need to play with precision and good course management to score well. Yes I would play again and hope my striking off the tee would be much improved.(Round played: Oct 2021 - Score: 95 Handicap: 18.4)

Lived in Coventry all my life but never got the chance to play here as it's a private members club.I was aware of the standard and wasn't disappointed.
We?ll worth playing if you get chance. They do take society?s and I would recommend it highly.

Superb As Always
This is my 3rd time playing here and it never fails to be anything other than a thoroughly enjoyable experience. A friendly welcome is always received in the Pro Shop. Top quality food and drinks in the clubhouse are always at hand. The course truly is one of the best you will find not only in the Midlands but in my eyes the country. Very well presented and it will challenge all aspects of your game.
If you're looking for a game and want to play a top course without the ?Top? fees then Coventry really is the place to visit.

Challenging top course
I havent been playing well but was impressed with the course as usual. This is one if the best courses in Coventry as usual. I really love it. Course manage and you will do well. Finham for me is a risk and reward type course. I love the trees bunkers and found quite a few. Staff after the golf were friendly and very helpful. Highly recommended.Reviewer Rating

Golf society 12/06/19
Played here on 11th and 12th June 2019. The first day the weather was shocking, raining constantly and the course was starting to hold water but still very playable, we got a members guest rate which was very reasonable at £23. The next day the weather held for us and the course was in amazing condition considering the previous few days weather! The course was enjoyable and well laid out, I found the greens very quick but fair. The pro couldn’t have been more helpful and welcoming. This place is definitely worth a look, just a pity I couldn’t bring my A game with me on this occasion ???? Recommended ????Reviewer Rating

High Class
The 2 days before we visited there was plenty of local courses closed due to 2 days of consistent rain. Coventry held so well I was actually in shock, not one spot where there was standing water on the course. Its a tight yet friendly course as all holes are treelined. However 9 times out of 10 - as long as you are sensible - you can get back out. I played as part of a society day that hand handicaps ranging from 5 to 36 and everyone equally enjoyed the course.
Not all holes require a driver and there are some very well placed bunkers and water hazards.
The greens were superb and whilst held a ball really well also rolled true - some are very undulating too!
A course I look forward to playing again!

Nice course, not too difficult but still a challenge
The club itself is nicely presented, not too old, but still traditional. The pro shop is compact but excellently stocked, with excellent advice on hand from the pros. They have buggies to rent as well as push/pull and powakaddy trolleys for hire also, none of which were excessively priced. £10 for the Powakaddy, which was in excellent condition and worked faultlessly. There’s plenty of practice facilities, nets, putting green, pitching, “range”, all in excellent order and there’s enough to satisfy even the biggest of society days.
The course itself is nicely laid out, both with challenging holes and more straight forward ones. Some tough hazards to avoid, but also gradients that allow you to test your skills more...even a golfer as bad as me was able to enjoy it though as the course isn’t hard to the point where you spend half your time looking for balls. Greens are excellently maintained, as is the rest of the course, with various notices around both encouraging good course care and also actively looking for those prepared to assist in keeping the course in good condition, which showed their commitment to keeping the course nice.
The clubhouse has a nice bar and restaurant with nice food and a good selection of drinks, drinks are a bit pricey at £2.50 for a tall Diet Pepsi, but if you’re going to a clubhouse expecting to get cheap drinks, you probably shouldn’t be in there.
Very enjoyable course, members are friendly and somewhere I’d recommend.
