Hidden gem

I really don't want to give this course a good review, as more people may find it! We saw one person the whole way round!! An interesting course with some funny holes, but the greens are good and I like the challenge of the long par 3's. A bit tight on some holes, with fairways very close together, but some clever tree placement help.

Always good at Chipstead!

Always challenging and a course that makes you think and plot your way round. Was in glorious condition when recently played, greens true and testing. Very friendly and welcoming when booking, on arrival and in the bar afterwards. A club to return to regularly.

Short, tight course. Greens, bunkers and tee boxes well maintained although some fairways could have done with another cut. The layout is a bit perplexing with the 1st and 18th crossing fairways, many tees where you shoot close to other greens and an access road (well used by cars and pedestrians) that is crossed four times. Hole 4 is a bit of a farce at this time of year because the fairway is so sloping that it doesn't matter where you hit it, it rolls down and either bounces against the fence or goes through it and out of bounds. I preferred the second half of the course where there were several long and testing par 3s.

This is ok for a knockabout. The course is fun and interesting nothing distinguishes it. The greens are alright and seem to be mostly pearlwort-grass so they are a little bit the wrong side of soft and slow but they do hold a ball well. Not sure they have full-time gardeners on the course but there is sand on the greens so there are efforts to dry them out and smother all the weeds. The Pro Shop and Clubhouse staff were very good.

Tight but fair.

Played just after greens had been spiked and sanded. To be expected this time of year but sad that there were still 2 temporaries. Fairways in great nick. Tee positions a little difficult- missed out 11 & 12 and had to go back and play them at the end.q

Hilly

Very hilly course, played in the winter so the greens were like rock solid.

This is a bomb-alley.

The course definition is faint and the whole place is untidy around the edges.

The greens are very VERY slow for early/mid October but some members reported the greenkeepers aren't fulltime so we might have been there on their day off.

Otherwise, a very nice sociable atmosphere and very polite and engaging staff around the ProShop and Clubhouse.

Great course

Played this today for the first time as I'm normally at other local longer ones. I normally don't bother with the shorter courses but this was a great test today which made me think about each shot. Had a good round for a first time course.

Challenging

This is a great course with very challenging fairways and difficult greens, the staff are very polite and helpful, when the weather changes it adds another dimension to the course

Really good course but tough

Very good course, although it can be a bit confusing finding your way to the next tee box, especially the first 3 holes. The course was in excellent condition and gave us a good challenge. Having the three par 3's back to back on the back 9 was quiet a challenge. Would definitely play again.

Bargain for a twighlight round

The course was in good condition. I didn't expect it to be so hilly.
I thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely come back again.

Fairways were in great shape. Lovely course. Loved the half way hut!
Course crosses over quite a lot but sign posted well.
