The course is too short with too many par 3’s and there are some holes that don’t even qualify as holes. For example the first is a tee box at the bottom of a hill. You hit across another fairway to a blind shot into a poor excuse for a green that is slotted in between a couple of tee boxes. Very poor. It does’t get much better from there.
I played as a competent two ball (15 and 13 handicaps) at speed only to be held up by the blight of many Surrey courses during the week. The ladies competition. They were phenomenally slow and very rude. After waiting for 5 holes for them to acknowledge our existence we asked if we could play through as my partner needed to pick his daughter up from school. They rudely declined. The situation was compounded with the club pro declining to help. He also should have let us start on the 10th when is asked him if the course was busy when i checked in. We had to skip the 18th when the competition in front shook on the 17th but continued to play the par 5 last.
Looking back i would play the course very differently but then again i cannot think of a reason to go back. There are too many other better courses in Surrey.
Poor layout, poor greens, poor condition, appalling staff and rude, elderly members that enjoy slow play.
My worst golfing experience in Surrey.

Average course. Rude pro shop
Played Chipstead after some years. The course condition has improved a lot, credit goes to the greenkeeping team!! Fairways and greens very well kept and like the small changes they have made as well eg. practice nets.Challenging course in some parts, particularly the 3 consecutive 200yd par 3s. Some longish par 4s. The greens are nice, but they don’t compensate enough for the course being so short. There are a lot of par 3s. Also a lot of holes are next to one another and a few cross one another. At some points, you can see 5 fairways next to one another. You also have different tee boxes positioned right next to one another, which can slow the round down slightly.
Pro shop are extremely rude. The course was not busy but they were not happy one of our players was running 15mins late.
Bizarrely given long summer evenings and more WFH, you can’t even tee off late and just pay at the bar (which is open until 9.30pm!!) – something which other clubs nearby do.
The pro shop think they are a “very exclusive” private members club. Pity, better off using more friendlier clubs nearby, who are also of similar condition and have more common sense in running a golf club.

Limited facilities but a decent course
This was my first time at Chipstead. The course is demanding but fair. A little more generous cutting of the rough and indeed the fairways might be in order now that the weather is changing. My main disappointment was in the lack of facilities on offer on arrival. It's always nice to have a freshly made coffee and a modest breakfast sandwich before embarking on that challenging first tee shot! Sadly, only cold chocolate bars and machine coffee (?1:50) were on offer.Reviewer Rating

Nice little course
Played here a few weeks ago and had an enjoyable round. Bit criss cross of fairways at times but otherwise all good. 3 Par 3s back to back was an eye opener but still a good challenge.Reviewer Rating

Worth a visit
A hilly course with some nice views. Though short, its tricky and tight. Well looked after by the greenkeepers with decent fairways and quick greens. Only two par 5's and with three long par 3's in a row on the back nine.A number of blind shots makes the round tricky playing it for the first time. One drawback is the number of tees close to greens. To be safe you may have to wait until the tee clears before hitting your approach shot. The course was quiet when we played however if playing when the course is busy it could lead to a long round.
You will need an accurate tee shot to some of the sloping fairways which are very steep.
I will return to play it again now I know the layout, hopefully on another quiet day. Worth a visit.
