Atrocious condition

In absolutely atrocious condition. The greens had no water in the summer so they are just about holding on, some parts of the greens are bare mud, you’d think you were putting through a bunker. There are about 8 greens which are unplayable. The irrigation system needs repairing because it’s flooded in the sprinkler areas where the water can’t escape, it was the same in the summer as some areas were green, some areas hadn’t seen any water for months. Can’t help the fact that someone has used a motorbike to churn the greens up but the areas which are being regrown should be ground under repair, no attempt to keep anyone off. The owners just want the most money they can out of it without investing any money in the course. You’ve renovated the club house, turn your attention to the course because I will never be coming back again. I was charged £26.50 for a round here and wish I had never spent my money. Oh and cut the rough, that’s ridiculous length for amateurs.

AWFUL Condition

The course was in Terrible condition. On the front nine parts of the fairways was wet underfoot. In contrast 7 greens on the back 9 were brown, bone dry with moss, cracking and bobbly. Plus we didn't see a single green keeper on the course. Also, it must be said that it is easy to lose your ball in the first cut off the fairways which is not helped by the fact that mown grass is left there. Have cancelled my subscription.

Shocking Greens

Really disappointed with this course. The greens were the worst I have ever seen. They should be called browns instead of greens! As they were mostly flat rolled mud. What little grass on them appeared diseased or like a motorbike had been doing doughnuts on them! Such a shame as with some attention this could be a good course! But until then I?ll spend my ?28 a round elsewhere!

Not great

After a few months off I thought the course would have been in better condition, unfortunately it looks like everyone had 3 months off and just turned up and cut the grass a bit. First cut was unplayable fairways were long greens were dry and untidy. Not great.

I think the only words to describe the course is TERRIBLE. I am lucky enough to play a lot of the courses in the area and this is by far the very worst. The greens are absolutely shocking, not only are they incredibly slow, they are in shocking condition. I will not be returning !

Awful, tees are not signed, fairways not kept, no real semi rough (long grass 3ft high at edge of fairways all round course). Greens in shocking state, bunkers worse. Some times flags are missing. Driving range worse I've seen. Ball machine never works. No tees.

Dear lord

Glendale golf could do a lot worse than closing the course for a day and taking the whole team to Cranhamn, Rayleigh club and just have a look at how a course should be run, with golfers in mind, complacently is a word I don't choose lightly, honestly living of the " good old days" simply doses not cut it ( either does the green keeping staff round the course " and given the course is no more than 2 miles from Canvey beach I am sure a couple of barrow loads of sand wouldn't be missed, and don't get me started on the " driving range"

What a opotunity missed !!!!!

I used to play this course every Sunday until I had to work away. I have now just retired and starting to play regular golf again and went to Castle Point with memories of how it used to be. What a surprise and a disappointment. The course has not been kept at all well. The long rough starts immediately at the edge of the fairway ( no semi rough) so if you stray off the fairway by a couple of inches finding your ball is major and takes up more and more time.I probably lost 3 balls just missing the fairway by 6 or 7 inches. The greens were in no better condition either with lumps bumps and large areas of brown. Bunkers overgrown, dry lakes, overgrown ditches and a generally run down course. This could be such a gem and actually used to be before Glendale Golf got hold of it. Such a shame and no reason. All it takes is a little bit of understanding of what golfers expect. A shorter semi rough, second cut. Sand in the bunkers not mud. Good cut around the green, etc etc etc. And maybe a little staff training would be advantageous. So Disappointed

Course was in a shocking state. Shame on Glendale Golf they seem to be running the course into the ground. They should sell to a company that is going to spend some money to maintain it to a reasonable standard.

By far the worst course I have ever played, generally tatty in it's appaerance!!
It's nothing more than a field, Poor tees, fairways and greens, The bunkers are in disrepair and need to be reworked. My advice is play elsewhere.

Have played this course earlier in the year and made allowances due to the amount of rain there had been. However, this course must be in the worst condition of any I've ever played. The greens are worse than many fairways on other courses and the fairways are more like semi-rough in some places. The tees are very uneven as well.
This is a shame as the layout of the course is not bad and with some TLC this could be a nice little course.
