Must play
The Burnside in carnoustie is challenging at best I am a new member to this course and play most Thursdays. I find my short game needs work along with putting. The fairways are fast running and the greens are also fast. Overall a must play if in the area.(Round played: Aug 2019 - Score: 85 Handicap: )

A real challenge
Course and facilities excellent and well up to OPEN standard. Fairways were tight and yardage was above normal so a real challenge but definitely worth taking on.(Round played: Jul 2019 - Score: 105 Handicap: 19.9)

Best Links ever
What a test of golf, truly the best challenge of golf in Europe. Coming home from 15 is particularly challenging with 16 into the wind you are looking at a good old hit with a wood to get there!!(Round played: May 2019 - Score: 88 Handicap: 12)

Worth the visit
Recently travelled up to play Carnoustie as part of a trio of courses in the region. Having played the Open here and with the Alfred Dunhill Links being prepared it was in good condition, and we were fortunate the weather was kind. The course was enjoyable to play, generally in good condition, and greens played true as you would expect. The round took 6 hours, which was largely because we were held up at countless holes and you would expect a better pace of play to be enforced, even though it was easy to lose a ball it should not be the case that you are waiting at most of the back 9 tee boxes given there are course rangers.
I personally felt it lacked the 'wow' factor that I thought it may have, and it is a shame that you are only allowed simulators to practice - as well as have to pay £5 for trolleys which after a £200 charge to play the course felt a little cheeky.
Maybe I had expected more, but it felt as though the course history was more of an attraction than the course itself. The last four holes were indeed a card wrecker and the only solace was that many better players than I have had their scorecard ruined by them. Even though it was disappointing it was actually still enjoyable to be challenged by them and they were probably the highlight despite not scoring!
If you are in the region it would be worth playing, but I would have to say compared to Kingsbarns (admittedly a different style course) I felt the overall level fell a little short for the money paid.
The staff were very friendly though, in both the clubhouse and the main hotel, so it was just a shame that it didn't quite deliver in other areas.

Fantastic course worth visiting"
The Championship Course has hosted seven Open Championships, one Ladies British Open and two Seniors Open making it one of the very few to have done so in the UK. It is one of the three courses used for the annual Dunhill Links, the others being...more(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 86 Handicap: 16.3)

Great Course..Scottish links at its best
A great day weather wise and next to us on the Championship course was none other than Tom Watson! It doesn't get any better than that! Not too long a course, so suits my game.Reviewer Rating

Links meets Heath
A real mix of holes, Links and breeze, tough driving holes and accurate placement needed, followed by a selection of heath before finishing back on the sea. Not what I was expecting, perhaps more location based on the pricing but well worth a visit if taking in the area.(Round played: Sep 2017 - Score: 94 Handicap: 21.6)
