What the club says: Laid out in 1899, although the club was formed more than fifty years earlier. Ben Hogan practiced here for his open win at Carnoustie in 1953 and the 414 yard sixth was a particular favourite of his. There are many fine holes on this course with the 12th being another memorable challenge, a twisting burn guarding the green's approach.
Panmure has hosted many championships including Open final qualifying in 1968, 1970, 1975, 1999 & 2007.
2014 the Club held the Scottish Amateur strokeplay championship and 2015 the Amateur Championship qualifying alongside Carnoustie.
2016 Open regional qualifying (also for 2017-2020, Scotlands only venue), Senior Open qualifying and also the World Hickory Open.

Worth playing
Thought it was a pretty good layout with some spectacular holes once you get through the first few. Great history with Hogan, and clubhouse is very cute with good catering. For me for early June the course condition wasn't great, greens were okay but not as good as expected and there is a distinct lack of rough management - it's very variable and you can be a foot off the fairway and have an unplayable or lose your ball which is no good. Many holes are also pretty tight which doesn't help.
Nice range with balls included in price.

Good enough for Hogan…
Super track. Stand out being Hole 6 (renamed after the great man himself) but a terrific test. All the trouble is in front of you. No tricks. Hit good shots and get rewarded. Hit poor shots and get punished. Terrific greens for April. I could be a member here and never tire of it. Played in 3/4 club wind and still enjoyed it immensely.Reviewer Rating

Fabulous
A course just down the road from Carnoustie from where we could hear the roars of the crowds at The Open when we played our round. Excellent driving range to warm up and superb old style clubhouse to enjoy after your round. The place is full of history. The course itself is a must play. True links style it will test every part of your game. Staying on the fairways is a must to avoid big scores. The bunkers are penal and the greens fast. Every hole is different and requires a careful strategy. Super course that I would love to play again.Reviewer Rating

Ben Hogans Open practice facility
This course was an exceptional experience. It oozes tradition and heritage in every corner. The course was a total pleasure but a real challenge. It was in exceptional condition given the time of year and recent poor weather.Used as a practice facility by Ben Hogan before his Open win at Carnoustie in 1953.(Round played: Apr 2018 - Score: 93 Handicap: 17.3)

Great course in lovely condition...for March especially....greens quick and undulating...not bumpy at all...great variety of holes (short and long par 4's....fantastic par 3's...with the exception of 15th) in different directions to test you in the wind....just a great course with a very friendly pro shop and bar staff....to me £80 in the summer months is a bit pricey...but if you can get a decent deal....get it on your list of courses to play..

Nice to get a game after Christmas. Course was quite wet for 'links' like land.
Standing water in places where I lost a ball. Nevertheless would be a challenging golf course in the summer

The clubhouse provides excellent food and the members are very welcoming. The course is constantly being used for qualifying for various major competitions ranging from The British Seniors through to The Open.
If in the area (Carnoustie or St Andrews) and you are keen to play golf this will be a most enjoyable experience.
The course is links like and not hilly but if it blows watch out. Make sure you avoid the heather if possible as it's very difficult to play out of it.
Good luck and enjoy
