Beautiful but Soggy
What a smashing layout and course was in immaculate condition considering how much rain had fell. Some stunning holes with amazing views of Ben Lomond and surrounding hills. Was very, very damp on the initial fairways but loads of rainfall over the last few months and a lot of water hazards won't help the drainage. Would love to play again in the summer monthsReviewer Rating

Stunning layout in great condition with some outstanding views over the famous Loch Lomond.
The front 9 felt a bit tighter off the tee and fairway position is key, where the back 9 felt you could open up a little bit more.
The lovely 14th is a fine downhill par 3 playing towards the Loch but picking the right club is going to be vital.
There is a fair bit of water around but mostly visible and wont get caught out anywhere.
Lots of different tee options though so depending on ability, everyone should be able to enjoy this cracking golf course.
Food after is great too.

Stunning - must play
Having played way back in 2009 I was quite excited to go back and see how the course had matured. Back in 2009 my obvious memory was the back 9 and views over Loch Lomond and my recollection was that the front 9 wasn't as strong with a short run of weak holes - having now visited in 2023 I can happily confirm this is not the case. Both front 9 and back 9 are a joy to play. The front 9 plays in the low lands and as others have mentioned can be slightly damp under foot but they have done a lot of work to ensure the course is playable at all times. The front 9 provides a nice mix of holes working their way out away from the clubhouse before turning back round and slowly starting the ascent which gets you ready for the back 9.
Once you hit the 9th not only do you get a continued nice mix of holes but the views change from those of the lowlands set amongst heather and trees to some spectaculr vists looking out across Loch Lomond. The back 9 moves into what is more highlands golf but don't be put off by any slopes, non are silly or quirky and the holes just meander up the landscape and fit beautifully into the surroundings along with providing some epic panoramic views.
The 10th is a stand out hole for me, not long, playing uphill but setting the scene for the holes ahead with the mountains in the distance, framing from the trees and views out to the right looking out and across Loch Lomond. Obviously the 14th Par 3 gets the plaudits and you can see why with the run of holes lying ahead which drop you back down and run alongside the Loch.
As you would expect the course was will maintained from tee to green, the clubhouse and service expectional and warm welcome from Scotland second to none. I definitely won't wait as long to go back and play again - must play and highly recommended.
Finally, I doubt anyone could play this golf course without taking a photo!

Must play course?
Beautiful course in a beautiful location. Everyone was very friendly and the course was spectacular in places. Definitely a challenging test for a mid-handicapper like me, greens in particular were a challenge but an enjoyable one. Will definitely come back when I'm around Loch Lomond!Reviewer Rating
