Not Impressed with course condition!!!

Booked to play the 'Open Competition' today and arrived an hour before my tee-time to be pleasantly greeted by the pro-shop staff. Got signed in and had the breakfast included in the cost, so far so good. Got to the 1st tee 20 mins before my tee-time and 2 mins before I was due to tee off was advised my 2 playing partners had cancelled at the last minute. Was told there was another tee-time in the comp 40 mins later which I could join in with. Went back and waited and 10 mins before this time was told that person I was now meant to be playing with had also cancelled!!!!! I then had 2 options, wait until 11am (3 hours after I arrived) or go out on my own straight away but not take part in the competition! I decided to go out on my own as I was totally hacked off that they couldn't split the other 4 balls between 10 and 11am to make a 3 and a 2 ball!!!! As soon as I set foot on the course I immediately knew it should have been closed. The fairways were so soft through the rain there was no run at all on the ball at all. The greens must have been running at 2 on the meter as they were so slow it was ridiculous. Every footstep was in soaked, soft pathetic grass. The course was not playable and should have been closed but I would imagine the £45.00 per player they would have lost if they cancelled the comp was the reason this 'competition' was allowed to continue. On that point I presume some of my entry fee was towards the longest drive, nearest the pin and winner trophy prize but none of that was refunded bearing in mind I was now no longer in the competition.
The only plus is that the course has a nice layout, unfortunately I wont be back to try again. Staff were very nice but whoever makes the decisions on the course being open is only interested in the balance sheet and not the player experience.

Boggy conditions

Really disappointed never played such a boggy wet golf course, don't get me wrong the layout is ok and the views are great but that doesn't make up for the extremly poor condition, this is as far from a championship course as it is from being dry! Consolation was the place was really quiet compared to the last time we played, which was great, I can only imagine it's down to the condition.

Should be called Loch Lomond on the Carrick

This course is absolutely soaking wet! It's a real shame as the layout & views are spectacular. I would love to play it after a drought!

Amazing views and plenty of time to take in during a 5 hour round which spoiled our experience, place is littered with hackers who don't replace divots, repair pitch marks or let you play through in the spirit of the game! Hint of desperation for your money, on all fronts, if your playing book through teeofftimes you'll save a fortune!

Already very tired looking in place and in real need of Investment whether that's man hours or money or both.... it's not what we were expecting! Very boggy and expensive....as nice as it is £10 for a basic coffee & 2 run of the mill cheap scotch pies out the local super market is not cutting the mustard i'm afraid! Also hint of desperation on getting you to spend money in the shop on the day with a double your money at a hole you just want to appreciate the views!

Played the Wee Demon course and I have to say I will never again. The greens were the worst I have ever played. They were slow, bumpy, full of huge untreated disease marks. Bunkers not raked, bunkers short of sand, hole cups not changed for god knows how long, some holes were damaged. Tee markers not changed. Like playing off mud. Dont know how a course could be presented like this for the paying public.

The wee demon course is pitiful. The course is unkempt and covered in duck and goose excrement. The "greens" were covered in so much sand that it was difficult to distinguish them from the bunkers. I would recommend taking a bucket and spade to play in the sand rather than your clubs-you'll likely have more fun that way.

TLC required

A great lay out and fantastic settings but needs some care and attention as it has went downhill since the last time I played the course almost 3 years ago. They have went for quantity over quality and is still a society venue. A real shame.

Great welcome from staff. Course severely let down by poor drainage throughout the course. Weather conditions week before the round had not been too bad. It was a shame that Countless number of shots end up in plugged lies. However the greens on the whole have been maintained well and protected. Would love to come back and play the course if Money was well spent on drain solutions.

Too Wet Underfoot

When told that the official condition of the course was "saturated" should have set the alarm bells ringing. The tees were fine, the greens had been cored (understandable at this time of year) but ALL of the fairways were absolutely sodden, some flooded and virtually unplayable. Had this been any other course it would have been closed as it would be deemed so. Unfortunately the lure of money keeps them ticking over putting golfers out there onto what amounted to marshland/paddy fields. A real shame as there are some very good holes but they could not be enjoyed given the state of the fairways.

The course was pretty much flooded. The only place water wasn't lying was on the greens. In some places the ground was moving under our feet as we prepared to hit the ball. Although very disappointed with the state of course, hotel, restaurant and spa were great
