This is a course that I play regularly. It is quite flat but very interesting with a small lake and pond which you have to negotiate. There are two dogleg left par 4 which can be quite trickery .the greens are well protected so that you need to be accurate with your approach shots. Greens are mostly flat and are currently slow when putting but difficult to get the ball to stop on approach shots .Although in an urban setting, there are a great variety of wildlife. From time to time you can spot a small herd of deer. The lake and the pond provide a great habitat for a range of birds which in turn attract predators like herons. All in all Calderfields is a great course .

Nice enough track, but greens v poor

Played here today and was initially pleasantly surprised. However the practice green was a portent of gloom! Fairway and rough grass was lush and divots were easy to make and repair. The greens were a lottery, not cut in two days, lots of mounding around the long in place pin positions. The rhyming slang “pony” is what they are!
The layout was testing and really quite nice needing good course management but, and sorry for hammering the point, the greens nullified all the hard work.
Bunker condition was generally poor but playable. If the greens were better the course would get my unreserved recommendation and I would go again, but in its current state; sorry no chance. Travelled 90 miles and paid £30, feel as if I have been “sold a pup”!

Good course

Course in good condition, some of the greens are starting to look a little threadbare. Fairways good

Our 4 ball played here in June on really hot days. The tee boxes and fairways were good but the greens were desperately in need of water as most had a lot of cracks as if they had been relaid recently but the swards had not knitted together. We found the course a bit boring as it is very flat and mostly just up and down with a line of trees separating fairways. Having said that, it is worth a visit.

A nice course

A nice course & in excellent condition.
A few reviews on here mention poor greens, but I disagree, they were pretty good. also the bunkers had more sand in than some so called good golf courses that I've played.
The course gets a bit 'samey' in places, but at less than 100 quid for DBB & golf you can't really complain.
It's lack of length is made up for by most holes being quite tight & tree lined.
The hotel is nice, with excellent cabins. The food was average, but OK.

Played here a day after a very rainy night, having been a member here years before I know it can be very boggy , but I was pleasantly surprised how well the course had drained and very little signs of water!! The course is in decent condition and well worth the ?14.50 fee

Nice course, greens need work

Played as part of a golf society. Teed off late as few four balls in front of us were slow away. Pace sped up as round went on. Took just over 4 hours to play.

Fairways in excellent condition. Rough was challenging. Few holes bunched close together so if your tee was wayward you were most likely on another fairway... And a lot of greens had "under repair" sections.

Overall course was fairly challenging and in decent condition.

Would definitely play again.

good course but fairways are too close together on front nine, I would imagine lots of time would be lost waiting to play balls from other people's fairways and it could be quite dangerous!
