Despite the terrible weather over the last few months (and on the day) the course was still in excellent condition. With predominantly longish par 4's making up most of the holes , your driver is in use on nearly every tee, but the course looks much tighter than it plays with bail out areas for errant drives on most holes. With little variety needed off the tee the main feature of the course are the undulating greens which were hard underfoot (despite the rain) true and very quick, so your approach irons must leave you in the right place to avoid 3 putting. Club members and staff were very friendly and overall its a quality course, but not one to play very week if you want a bit of variety to your round. A little gem of a course. In perfect condition, can make no criticism of this course. A lovely variety of holes, all with undulating greens that need some careful reading. TIP: Everything slopes towards the M4 !

Nice clubhouse facilities and lovely terrace to sit out on for an after round drink.

Do not generally take green-fee paying guests. So you need to be in a society or be invited to play by a member.

Highly recommended.

nice course

Course was in parts tight with next tee box adjacent to the previous green and in striking distance, Course had suffered from the excessive recent rain and was boggy in parts. Shots carried no distance due to the ground being waterlogged which made the course seem much longer. Also as the course is hilly again no carry and in some cases plugging. pre golf we had a breakfast in the clubhouse which whilst modest was perfectly cooked. generally the course is very well kept and very tidy. Greens are true but very fast. Green Fees expensive at around £40+..

Great course in heart of Reading

Excellent track - fairly long with numerous 400+ par 4s off the yellows, you need to be hitting the big stick well! All the par 3s are interesting, beautiful holes.

Greens were tinned recently so not a true reflection but still in excellent condition for November, and the same with the fairways considering the bit summer.

Pro shop is nice, lovely club house and all staff very welcoming. Will be returning as soon as I can, £100 for a winter 4 ball is an excellent bargain!

Lovely course

This was my first time playing Calcot Park, but I'm hoping it won't be my last. The first impressions are excellent; the clubhouse is nice, you get a very good welcome in the pro shop, and the holes on display wet the appetite for the round to come.

After a fairly heavy frost the night before the greens were still very firm, and even without the frost these greens aren't easy. It seems like most of them are raised, and none of them are flat. They are all smooth and quick though, even now in the latter half of December.

The fairways are generally forgiving with only a few tighter driving holes, and just like the greens, they're in very good condtion. There are some wonderful looking holes here too, with the par 3 7th over the lake probably the most memorable. There are quite a few running it close though.

I played here as part of a £99/4 ball deal, and that was certainly worth the money. The summer rate would make me think twice though.

Lovely course, nice greens some of which are very challenging (especially the first). But overall great course which is a real challenge.

Not so intelligent golf

Unfortunately they appear to be struggling to keep their booking system and communication in line with weather. Despite being closed for a week they had bookings available through both golf now and on their website. I made a booking and no one made an attempt to let us know the course was closed. The email link they send doesn't actually link to the course status and all appears fine unless you click on the menu where it is hidden. Arrived at club no apology - simply a refund. Having driven over an hour to play the course it was disappointing that they were unable to manage this basic administration task.

Nice course

Nice course, just off the M4. Quite varied. Not too difficult, as not that long but well worth playing.

Pleasant course with killer greens

Calcott Park is a nice pleasant parkland course that has the look and feel as if you're playing in the park of the manor house. The fairways are open and the course would be relatively straightforward if it was not for the greens. Most of the greens appear to be on a slope and are quick. It's easy to leave many downhill putts 10ft short or off the green.

Great parkland with tricky greens

Enjoyable round with course in great condition apart from one dry and bare approach on the 12th. Greens were had and fast and front pins were very difficult to play to.

New chef provided a well presented and tasty dinner.

Really enjoyed my round. Staff and members were all very friendly. Considering how much rain we’ve had the course was in superb condition and the greens like lightening. Loved it.
