What the club says: Blackwell Golf Club was founded in 1893 by five men, four prominent local businessmen and the other the local curate from St Catherine's Church in Blackwell. The original course was built on part of the Hewell Grange Estate, owned by Viscount Windsor, and a local golf professional C W Cunningham was commissioned, for a fee of £1.5s.0d, to plan the original nine hole lay-out.
Today - Blackwell is a traditional English mature parkland course measuring 6283 yards from the white tees with a par of 70 (sss.71).

Superb
What a great day playing at Blackwell today. The hospitality was fantastic from Peter and his team. I would put the course as one of the best I have played. Condition was superb and every hole offered a different challenge. Really enjoyed the par 3’s as they were a real test. The green are the best I have played on all year. Very true and a nice pace. They are very tricky to putt on due to the undulation but nevertheless still enjoyable to putt on. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending Blackwell, so if your in the area or looking for a great course for a society. Speak to Peter I’m sure he would be more than accommodating.Reviewer Rating

Stunning
First time playing here and I was not disappointed one bit. The whole course literally has it all. Great mix of holes. Par 3’s as good as you can find. Bunkers are literally everywhere and so so good. Greens as pure as I’ve putted on. If you love golf you’ll love playing here.Reviewer Rating

Fantastic course and service
Played Blackwell on Monday 14th September 2020 with my works golf society, the course was in absolute perfect condition and all the staff and members were incredibly friendly. The dress code is very outdated (some might say traditional...) In that if you wear shorts, you MUST wear knee length socks! Not ideal on the hottest day in weeks, as most of us opted for trousers but some of our group did dig out there football socks. Because of the dress code a few of us were worried that the club might be a bit snobbish, but it was completely the opposite. We were made incredibly welcome all day.Would highly recommend. The course itself is fairly short of yellows - par 5's not really par 5's, but a great mix of tree lined, short fiddly holes and some holes you can open the shoulders up a little. Greens are pretty undulated and you needed to be on the right side of the hole to make up and downs easy.

Even though the conditions (very windy) were tough it is always a pleasure to visit Blackwell GC and play this stunning course. The greens staff should be complimented for their magnificent work, 20 of us played and everyone without exception commented that they can't wait to return. The welcome we received from all the staff and the way we were looked after will ensure a date in the diary next year for certain. If you haven't yet found this hidden gem do yourself a favour and pay it a visit.Reviewer Rating

Extraordinary value and we will return very soon. Recommended!

Worcestershire’s finest
A hidden gem within the UK, if you ever get chance I highly recommend playing. I am a county player +1 handicapper (not local) and the greens are some of the best I’ve played on. Staff were really nice and welcoming and I thoroughly enjoyed my day, will definitely be back to Blackwell Golf Club in the near future.Reviewer Rating

Amazing Course
I recently played Blackwell Golf Club and it was absolutely fantastic. Even though we have had a lot of bad weather recently, leaving a lit of the local courses closed, Blackwell still remains playable, on main greens (that run very true). It has shot to the top of my favourite golf course list! Can't wait to return!Reviewer Rating

Words from a guest to Blackwell
I have finally found the time to sit down and express mine and Simon’s thanks for such a wonderful day at Blackwell. It is always pleasing when the picture you build up in a person’s mind of a course meets with reality. Needless to say Simon was bowled over by Blackwell. As he said to me in the car – your 180 members really do have a little gem. 4th November 2019Reviewer Rating

Solid course but left a bit underwhelmed
Came here with perhaps unreasonable expectations having been told it was the best in the midlands, but both myself and my partner agreed that all in all it flattered to decieve. Considering it was late November you could tell the condition was generally excellent, with some classy bunkering, carpet like (if frosty!) greens, but with a few too many so so holes, particuarly on the back nine, and an at times uninspiring layout. The plot of land at times felt too small for a golf course - some of the holes felt shoehorned in to make up the 18, with tee boxes and greens regularly crossing over each other. The clubhouse, likewise, is a lovely old building but the interior was in pretty dire need of an update! That said, if you come not expecting the birmingham augusta, it is still a good course in excellent condition. Many holes are great, particuarly (for me) the par 3 over water 9th and a heavily bunkered par 4 10th reminiscent of sunningdale and more good holes than average ones. If it were at its best all the way round im sure it would be rated much more highly!

If your bothered about the decor in a club house then you may think it should be updated. I'm not, I pay for the course and believe this place is worth the green fee. All staff and members were welcoming.

Fortunate to get an invite to friends 50th birthday golf day which was at Blackwell. From what I have been told it is not easy to get a game there unless with a member. Bearing that in mind they were very welcoming in the Pro Shop and Club House. The course obviously gets plenty of care and attention as it looked and was in very good condition. The greens were slow though which initially took getting used to as you could leave puts short on a downhill putt!
Overall though a really interesting and challenging layout with a couple of shortish Par 5's and a few long par 3's one of which famously Augusta 12th was modelled on.
