Best pay and play around

Greens are truly superb for a "pay and play" course, and the whole course in excellent condition as always..

Excellent value for money. Friendly owners and staff. Greens usually very good - especially for a pay and play. Wet in winter.

Vastly Improved

It's been quite a while since I've played here, but in that time the course has really improved. There are far more grown trees giving a few of the holes some definition, there's a new clubhouse, and the course itself is in very good condition.

There's a 9 hole course (The Old Course) which when played twice stretches to 5587 yards from the yellows, plus a 9 hole par 3 course. This review is about the Old Course, although from memory the par 3 course was well worth playing.

Whilst the course isn't the longest, there aren't many holes that could be classed as easy. There are a number of holes with small, contoured greens, and 3 holes (6 if you're playing it twice) where water is very much in play. That said, it is a course that would suit all standards of player.

I was pleasantly surprised with the fairways and greens, which were in very good condition given the recent wet and snowy weather. The tees were decent. My favourite hole would be the 6th/15th, which is a very pretty dog leg hole around a lake.

The clubhouse is smaller than a lot of courses, but certainly pleasant enough, and there was a lovely welcome when paying the green fee.

I'll definately be back again soon.

Billingbear great course

Congratulations to the green keepers at the course it’s in wonderful condition for this time of year and the greens are outstanding. Played 18 holes twice round the same 9 but off different tees for the second nine . Nice club house and staff definitely worth playing and will be returning

Lovely course, well layout. Fairways in great condition, some of the putting surfaces needed rolling. easy to get tee off and relaxed pace of game as no one was pressing up from group behind as in other golf courses as they leave adequate time between tee off times.

what a great place this is. They are very welcoming and helpful in the clubhouse, and the two courses are beautifully kept. It is not private, but is pay and play, and the greenfees are very reasonable too. We played off of the back tees with the owners blessing, and it was a superb test of golf. We will be back.

This a pay and play 9 hole course but is always in good condition and a joy to play. Jackie and Martin produce an atmosphere as good as many members clubs and is one the most friendly clubs I have ever played. Easy walking.

Billingbear Park Old Course is an excellent 9 hole course (plays 18 tees) which is maturing well and is in excellent condition. Several fairways have good water, sand hazards and wide fairways which can challenge beginners as well as higher handicapped players and gives some room for 'error'. Billingbear Park also offers a Par 3 New Course which is an excellent challenge for your short game. Two holes are directly over water to the greens which not only is challenging but also easy on the eye.
The Staff are freindly and welcoming and the 19th offers free coffee/tea to all players. Very good bar snack menu, can recommend the 'bacon-butty' after 18.
