Changing you Website doesnt make you a better course
Starting with the positives, the greens were in good condition. The tee boxes were awful and in need of watering even though there are sprinklers on most holes. The sprinklers have not been used for a long time
The fairway look great from a distance but are full of bare clay patches where grass will never grow. Birdhills is mainly a clay course and the fairways are alway cut too short especially in winter which carves up the fairway , thus the bald clay patches on all the fairways.
The bunkers , well some of them had little sand and others rather a lot, possibly too much
Overall really disappointed
Adding new tee off markers and changing your website does NOT make this a good golf course.
I have been playing here for years but I've finally had enough so will not be back

Played Birdhills today. The course was in appalling condition. More mud and water than grass even on the fairways.Course totally unfit for play even for winter golf., a complete waste of money and we walked off the course after 12 rather mud clay and very watery holes.
When we mentioned this to the starter his response was that there was rain last night, as if that's a good
excuse for them keeping the course open and taking your money.
The course should have been closed due to state of the course

Good course in the summer particularly! The greens were excellent. Obviously somewhat different since they reversed the two nines, but pretty good!Reviewer Rating

Never again
We've been playing at Birdhills for years. However the state of the course is terrible in places. No tee boxes watered
Fairways (which are on clay) cut too short summer and winter
Greens 4 out of 10 at best
Marshalls on the course to speed up slow play Non existent
On the board by the starters hut which outlines rules of the course , they forgot to add obey the etiquette of gof (especially slow play when there nobody in front on you for 4 holes.
I used to like this course but its definitely on my list of courses not to visit

Course in good condition
I was not expecting the course to be in such good condition after the weeks of wet weather, but it was in very good nick. You can see changes that the green keepers have made and there are some new bunkers also under construction which will be interesting. A very enjoyable roundReviewer Rating

Interesting course
Nice course with a good mixture of challenge including unsuspecting ditches until you've played a couple of times. Greens run true. Doesn't drain that well but good in the dry weather.Reviewer Rating

Very poor condition
Course was in very poor condition, very very muddy!Poor drainage and not 1 fairway cut on the front 9 holes.
Back 9 condition was better, less mud and some actual fairways.
I would not play is course in the winter, might play better in summer

Good firm conditions
A few days of dry weather have made the greens firm. Need to land on fringe and let it roll on, otherwise the ball will not stay on the green.Reviewer Rating

Course was not in great condition
This is a really nice course in the summer time but this time of year, it was a challenge, a lot of fairways water logged just off the tee box and greens were not in the greatest conditions either. Its a shame, a lovely course.

Dreadful greens
The course was always dull (like many of its era and kind, it was put together 30 or so years ago on an uninspiring piece of mainly flat land and lined with avenues of quick growing leylandii spruce with the odd square pond here and there) but up until a couple of years ago, it was always in pretty good nick. Not any more.
The greens these days are basically unplayable with OK (if grainy and carpet like) grass covering 1/2 the greens with the other half bare. I'm not exaggerating - I mean dozens of bare patches on each and every green. Meaning your putts will bobble and jump and never roll true.
The managers and course owners will say that's a result of a) Covid and b) this summer's heatwave.
Uh huh.
So why are all the other local courses not suffering with the same.
When the late Blue Mountain course had a similar dive in condition and playability, the owners halved green fees out of sheer embarrassment.
Bird Hills should do the same.
RIDICULOUSLY expensive for the dullest course in Berkshire with the worst greens I've played on in 30 years.
Avoid.
Please.
