Poor conditions for price

Expected big things for the price, greens were horrendous, not sure how you manage to get large chunks of rubble onto them, obviously very rushed to get the course open and visitors are paying the price, won’t be returning

Expensive for conditions

Greens are poor tees are not flat looks like greens were hollow tined then not dressed so very bumpy they are trying to recoup lost revenue as fast as possible at players cost. Insread of furloughing staff should have kept them on to work on course easy to self isolate on golf course.

Don't waste your money

This golf course is rubbish! It's not in good condition at all. The tees aren't level, and the greens are bumpy. Don't part with your hard earned money to play this course.

waste of a day and money

When we arrived just before 8 am course was closed and remained closed until 10am a green staff took water off greens. Played off forward temp tees. Sorry they were just teem markers in the rough and most thoroughly mudded up from previous day. course was sodden with balls plugging. Most of the greens were bobbly with loads of dead grass where I guess pitch marks haven't been repaired. If wasn't for the lack of an alternative course within distance that the society could reached in time we wouldn't have started... Shame on the management for not keeping the course CLOSED you money grabbing !*$?*£&!!

This course is usually one of the best in the area but the condition of the greens this September 2016 is awful. The sad thing is that they know it and dont even offer green fees at a reduced rate. I've played here for many years but now will be playing most of my golf elsewhere.

Lovely golf club and good service until you go to the starters hut to pay -then the wait begins ! We waited 3rd in line to pay and buy some water - 10 mins later we were still in the queue ! Then we finally got out onto the course -we were a 2ball and followed two other 2balls and we were all behind a4ball ?on the 4th the 3 sets of 2balls all met up on the tee box watching the 4 ball ahead of us . No attempt was made by the 4ball to let people thru ! A member from another 2ball called the club house in the hope they would send out a Marshall -the golf club did nothing and after 3.5 hrs for the front nine two groups walked off to the car park vowing never to return again .neither will I as the course is in poor condition with an up and down boring design but the greens were in good condition .shame as the staff and club house were lovely with great food

Good course however I was abused by a green keeper for hitting a poor shot because it meant longer for him to wait even though he called me through. The green staff seem to want no golfers and are very rude and abrupt.

No care for any etiquette or rules

This is my local course so I?ve no choice but to keep playing. But my god are they frustrating.

They don?t care about slow play, they?ll let anyone hack around and hold groups up.

At today?s round, we were stacked up 3 deep on each tee box. So imagine my surprise when I got to tenth hole and they?d let TWO, yes TWO four balls out to start on the back 9 (at 930 on a Sunday!!!) It meant we were now stacked 5 deep at each tee. It was a disaster.

I went straight back to the sullen moody little man at the starters hut, and he told me there were late arrivals so instead of holding up the first tee he?d seen them off on the back 9 and make it 10x worse!

Utterly shocking. They do this sort of thing all the time. Sick of random groups appearing in front of me!

The fairways are also patchy, with about 30% of your lows being On a dry mud patch.

It's ok....just. Wouldn't rush back. Not a patch on Downshire. It's a links course in the middle of the country. Very windy although the forecast said 'gentle breeze'

Not worth the money - poor conditions

Do not part with your 35 pounds for a round here... highly overpriced given the current state of the course (it could be due to the lack of maintenance during lockdown), but the greens are pitch marked resulting in your ball bobbling. Uneven tee boxes were surrounded by discarded beer bottles, cans, and coffee cups (clearly from the previous day as we played early on a Sunday), which the Greenkeepers hadn't bothered to pick up that morning. It is also playing very slow currently as the tee times don't appear to be adequately spaced out. The actual course layout is quite picturesque, so it's not all doom and gloom!

I have played this course over the last ten years and it is slowly getting worse and worse and not the cost of £29.50 its a joke.
Overall fairway condition poor greens terrible and tee greens rock hard..The place looks like it has no ground staff to keep it up to scratch.I know its been a dry summer but nothing seems to have been watered for weeks.
Also i agree with another reviewer that the drainage is non existent when the course is wet.Probably would not go back until i hear they have improved the course. There is much better courses in Berkshire for less money than this place.

Very disappointing

I stopped playing this course a year ago because of the ruidiculous length of the rough just a yard off the fairway. They seemed to have rectified the problem but today it was back to the old issue. The first cut, when there was one, was 2" - 3" long and beyond that was over 6". The 18th fairway looked more like rough waith patches where the grass was over 4" long. Spent as much time looking for balls as playing golf. Our group consisted of decent players with handicaps of 12 and 15 and even they were dismayed. This wasn't enjoyable and I won't be returning. Shame as it's a good looking course.

Very boggy fairways.

I have played this course a few times in the summer months and really enjoyed it. However, I didn’t realise how boggy it is in the winter, that is why I only gave it a fair rating. Considering the fairways are so bad the greens were excellent. Didn’t try the facilities as we had spent too long looking for plugged balls and wanted to get home before the rush hour. The starter and green keeper were very friendly.
