Good course however I was abused by a green keeper for hitting a poor shot because it meant longer for him to wait even though he called me through. The green staff seem to want no golfers and are very rude and abrupt.

Need some TLC

The greens are in a terrible state. Holes in the green ( not pitch marks). The Green creeper needs a kick up the ?!!!

The greens are like a plowed field. I know we've had a drought, but lots of golf courses have looked after their greens far better. ?36 for what is far worse than my local municipal course is not really on.

Good Condition

A little on the steep side but as with most courses now the price has gone sky high. Course in good condition. They front 9 has been swapped with the back 9, a little annoying finishing on a par 3 but it is 160 yards with water before the green just a personal preference of not liking finishing on a 3.

Dreadful greens

The course was always dull (like many of its era and kind, it was put together 30 or so years ago on an uninspiring piece of mainly flat land and lined with avenues of quick growing leylandii spruce with the odd square pond here and there) but up until a couple of years ago, it was always in pretty good nick.
Not any more.
The greens these days are basically unplayable with OK (if grainy and carpet like) grass covering 1/2 the greens with the other half bare. I'm not exaggerating - I mean dozens of bare patches on each and every green. Meaning your putts will bobble and jump and never roll true.
The managers and course owners will say that's a result of a) Covid and b) this summer's heatwave.
Uh huh.
So why are all the other local courses not suffering with the same.
When the late Blue Mountain course had a similar dive in condition and playability, the owners halved green fees out of sheer embarrassment.
Bird Hills should do the same.
RIDICULOUSLY expensive for the dullest course in Berkshire with the worst greens I've played on in 30 years.
Avoid.
Please.

Bird Hills

As pay and play courses go it is pretty good, particularly in the summer months when it is dry! Greens were in good condition, and ran true! Clubhouse is old fashioned but the food and drink menu is good!

Good value

The course is not long and is in pretty good condition. the tees need work but the greens are pretty good. The practice green is much faster than the actual course. This is a great place to practice your game. Friendly welcome and a good America Golf store on site, along with good practice facilities.

This is my home course for handicap purposes. Always get a good friendly welcome and the members are all decent, whoever you play with. Course is in fairly good condition. Teeboxes, fairways and fringes around the green are all ok. My one criticism is that the greens, could do with a little more care. They aren't consistent, pace wise and a little more TLC to them would be great. Didn't go in any bunkers, for once, but they looked to have a decent amount of sand in them. One thing I've said before that would make playing here easier for visitors, is to have the 3 coloured flags to denote if the hike is cut towards the front, in the centre or towards the back of the greens. It's a simple fix, but think it's laziness more than anything else. All in all, I enjoy playing here and will continue to do so. Good choice of beers and food in the large clubhouse.

Easy layout

Wide fairways with very few out-of-bounds areas. Well kept for a public course and greens are quick. Good clubhouse and range. Great value for money.
