Good, apart from the bunkers...

Resting the course has benefited Batchwood
The coronavirus lockdown has done the course a lot of good. There are 15 greens which look good and the ball rolls well. The other 3 greens are recovering after the irrigation system had been damaged. The fairways are dry and have a few cracks. The semi rough is good, with consistent grass coverage. The rough is long and you can easily lose the ball. The letdown are some of the tees which haven't been maintained and are now looking rather worn out.(Round played: Jun 2020 - Score: 84 Handicap: )

Condition of course
For a public council run course it's not bad, could be better if as much time was spent not it as the rest of the sports center .Reception staff have no clue about tee times ,as I booked mine a week before and they still over booked my time slot and was told to squees in. Not enough rakes for bunkers ,

Straightforward but fun
Fairly easy course, greens aren't maintained to the highest of standard but a nice round for an improving golfer.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 91 Handicap: )

cheap but in good condition
greens where slow but good length holes and lay out. Fairways struggling a little as end of season. Average difficulty.(Round played: Sep 2019 - Score: 86 Handicap: 17.3)

Captain batchwood Hall golf club
I advise anyone who has booked to play to cancel as the course is in the worst condition I have ever seen it in and no one seems to care ??

Beautiful setting, drive up through an avenue of trees any private club would kill for. Its all downhill after that.
Putting green isn't maintained at all. Nets falling down. Tees are mostly fairly level, fairways are abysmal. Despite a wet and warm summer, we are still on preferred lies in August, and will surely be all year. Other courses did of course struggle with the dry spell last year, but I haven't seen one in the area that hasn't recovered well. That definitely includes all the other local public courses. Somehow, we have found it impossible to grow grass this year.
Yardage markers need cleaning up, flags aren't colour coded. Bins overflowing, rarely see a ranger. Random members of the public walking in all directions. No two bunkers have the same type or depth of sand. No first cut of rough. Almost the only positive thing I could say is that there is plenty of growth in the greens, but they are very slow and your game will have been spoiled long before you get to them anyway.
Overall, its the total lack of pride in what could be an outstanding facility that is what irritates. Because people playing it can see how little effort is put in, they don't feel the need to look after it either, so bunkers go unraked, buggies get driven across green surrounds and parked on tees etc. This was once voted the top public course in the country, so to now be ranked is 1900 out of 2100 (which is not harsh at all) is utterly shameful. Things have to change.

Pay and play to your heart's content.
No flashy clubhouse or extensively stocked shop, just a very enjoyable course that is kept in good condition whatever the weather. Great value for money with the added of red kites soaring above you as you play your shots.

Good value round
Generally the course is in pretty good condition especially the greens. However the putting practise green which is huge is in a terrible state and nothing like the greens so making practise a waste of time.Have to go to the pub down the road for a pint aftyerwards but thats not really a hardship

Decent course
I played with three friends at Batchwood, none of us having played there before. The course is a pretty looking course with its fair share of trees and vistas. The course was in reasonable but not outstanding nick, and showed no signs of being affected by the recent wet weather. It is probably a better course for mid to high handicappers with some interesting holes. It's a shame that there was no provision for food - just coffee, etc. I think they are missing a trick there!(Round played: Apr 2019 - Score: 109 Handicap: 30)

park land course
this i believe is a council run course well established but not maintained to a high standard . Nevertheless excelant setting tee area and fairways need some attention the greens surprisingly are in good shape bunkers were tidy but not all had rakes a very good test of golf and will play again.
