Fantastic value for money. Good walking course with some interesting holes and forgiving fairways. No. 7 hole is a real challenge.

Regular visits

I am an OAP living in St Albans so I can play for £13 --or about £350 a year.

Good value for a municipal course and greens ok --apart from the leaves --it is late sept!

Bunkers not great because of the lack of rakes --I expect they get stolen.

Watch out for the many walkers who do not stay on the paths

Public course, worth a visit

Batchwood is a municipal course which offers reasonable value for money for a reasonable quality course. It's biggest let down are the bunkers which contain little or no sand in places. Usually well maintained but occasionally shows a lack of attention.

mature public course

A mature course with well established trees. Green were slightly under par, but the sun and dry are the main reasons.

Excellent value course

Greens a little slow, some rakes and tee markers missing but otherwise a great venue to play at

Course is in very good condition. Greens are best I have seen for some while and are getting quicker.
Course remains quiet and easy to get on when you want. Value is well above average

Have a bash at Batchwood, you won't be disappointed

Batchwood is a challenging course with a good variety of holes. The course is always in good condition. If you don't make a birdie, you can at least look up and see beautiful birds of prey soaring above you. On the outskirts of St. Albans and with the Cathedral sitting proudly on a mount in the distance, Batchwood is great value for money.

Good value course

Course in reasonable nick but would benefit from some functional ball cleaners especially in the winter.

Considering conditions - A good test

Drizzle all day with heavy rain fora couple of days before hand. Greens damp and slow. Some like the 1st tuffty. Not the best. Layout good with some interesting holes like the 7th, which must be the signature hole. Would like to visit again to assess greens again. ITs a municple with Gym attached and so facilities lacking but there is a members building. Not sure if allowed in and certainly no indictation if we were welcome. The gym entrance had all the cards and dealt with payment. No food on show just hot drinks and very few snacks. Would be better prepared next time

Bit of a let down

Greens and fairways very poor. Driving range(excuse me!) needs to upgraded. Pay attention on the back nine, you have to people, kids and dog watch as they are all over the course. Joe public and all
occupants of St.Albans seemed to wandering around at one time or another. I know it's a public right of way but it's a pain in the arse.
