What the club says: Although the Club was established in 1894 the course has been on its present site at Hammonds End since 1931 when renowned golf architects of the time Messrs Frederic G Hawtree and John Henry Taylor were engaged to design and build a challenging 18 hole course in about 150 acres of rolling Hertfordshire countryside. A characteristic of their designs is front bunkering of greens so it pays to ensure that enough club is used on approach shots. A mature parkland course with ongoing investment ensures that it is one of the best in the county.

Good course for all abilitiesGood course for all abilities, brilliant greens. Good twilight rates in the summer, would play again

Very good tree lined coursePlayed a society day, dry fairways made it a bit firey for tee shots that weren't straight but greens receptive & rewarded good shots.Plenty of variety of holes. Easy to get to off A41/A1 from central London.

Nice course & club housePlayed course on a very cold day - greens in reasonable condition, some interesting pin positions. Open course that expect would play very different in the summer with leaves on trees making some fairways appear narrow.
Worth a visit - would definitel yplay again

good course but always very slowThe problem is you get a lot of hotel guests playing via package deals and its quite clear many of them are beginners. We played recently and the four ball in front had an entourage walking round with them including a baby in a buggy. There are no marshalls enforcing the pace of play and 4.5 to 5 hours is the norm.
