Favourite

My home club and despite the bias I consider it to be one of the best courses in Hertfordshire. 18 very different holes. Two holes over the protected hedge and of course the 18th green protected by the lake in front. Some great views and a course that you need to think your way around. the 19th hole facilities are excellent with a large patio and great service.

Society Day Course

Use this venue on several occasions in the past on our last visit I can honestly say that it?s the best conditioned course that I have played post pandemic lockdown fairways greens and bunkers were all exceptionally prepared credit goes to the green staff.

Excellent condition. Quick greens. You can fluke a good score here, but for most it is a challenge. Strategic bunker placements for approach shots are a challenge. There are a number of holes you have to calculate where you want to miss it the least as you can end up with hot downhill shots out of bunkers.

Hole 9 looks easy, if you miss right you are ob or in the bunker which means a bunker shot on a fast green with a large slope.

Tee shots are less of a challenge on most holes with some odd fairway bunker placement. Most are not in play, even with hybrids / long irons. Which is probably my only gripe. Finishing hole looks pretty but is too easy. Not a fan of trying to make holes harder by pulling out of bounds markers in artificially.

Challenging, Rewarding and Beautiful!

Probably slightly bias as a member, but this course always impresses me. Although not massively long it?s a challenge with the undulation, that forces you to have to think your way around. It penalises being out of position and rewards from the fairways. The greens a quick and true with plenty of optical illusions and subtle breaks.

In the Hertfordshire Countryside

A most enjoyable course on a fine sunny day in the countryside. Suitable for the average golfer. Well laid out with some good challenging holes.

What a great course, if you dont hit your drives where you want them to go, you can get punished.
I feel it is a strategic course and puts your course management into play here.
The greens are quick. Please do read the flag colours as these will help you to position your ball better. Overall a very enjoyable course amd would certainly go back again. In my view 10/10

Good course with fast greens

Good course, with very fast greens, which made for a tough but exciting challenge. If you putt well here you are playing excellent golf!!!

The best

In my view one of the best courses in Hertfordshire. Every hole is different and you need to put your ball in the right position to allow you a decent shot in. Greens are quick with plenty of subtle undulations. Fairway bunkers are well placed!. Hole 14 is one of the most difficult par 3's you will encounter. Everyone will remember holes 12 and 13 (over the hedge down and then back up).Lovely finishing hole over the last by the clubhouse.

Nice course, some good looking holes and worth revisiting in the summer as some of the holes could look great with the trees in full bloom. Really enjoyed it but next time I?ll get a buggy as a few very hilly holes lol.

Considering the amount of rain we have had in December and many other golf courses being flooded, the course at Aldwickbury was beautifully presented and whilst wet, was in incredible condition for this time of the year. The bunkers were kept excellently and sadly were placed in very good conditions to catch my ball. To get around Aldwickbury, you really have to think about every shot and it will reward you for doing so.

2nd Visit

Played here during the summer and thought it was great so returned for another game this weekend. The course is a really good test and it’s always nice to visit a club that genuinely feels like it welcomes visitors. Pleased to say that the return visit was just as enjoyable and having been impressed by the quality of the greens before, I can’t believe how good they still are at this time of year. Wish I lived closer!

Excellent track

Really nice course, back nine especially interesting with 12, 13 and 18 good par fours. Quite hilly so be ready for a challenge.

Greens were top quality for October.
