Decent enough test of a course, especially in the wind but by no means impossible. As it's a moorland course there are no trees but if you stray from the fairways theres loads of heather, which can mean a lost ball quite easily as it is thick. Greens although quite bare were pretty slow and patchy in areas, but not too bad. It's not the longest but with the wind has some testing holes. A couple of nice par 3's and a few decent driving holes too. It makes a change from just playing the same type of parkland course and makes you play different types of shot to get it around. At £12:50 on a Sunday morning its definitely worth a hit. Shot 79 / 9 over. HCP = 9.

Very challenging moorland course with lots of heather waiting to swallow your ball if you miss the fairway so make sure you have plenty of spare balls available just in case! Greens were kept in excellent condition

Played on a foggy and damp Tuesday.
Condition of course was very good and the greens were lovely condition. It drains very well ! Very exposed with little or no shelter but fantastic views (when the low cloud lifted) Great Value and no mats or temporarys in play !

Moorland links. Tight course, enjoyable to play but tough if you duff. Well worth a visit.

Course was suffering from the recent weather and clearly weren't able to water the greens, which was a shame as it made some of them almost impossible to putt on. Was a good setup, with some very tricky holes. certainly a course you need to play more than once to give it a good go.

We played Baildon as a 3 ball on a Sunday morning at 10am for £12.50pp (more than reasonable!). Thoroughly enjoyable round, extremely challenging! Course punishes you if you don't hit the ball straight, wind huge factor on each hole played. Greens in excellent condition.

A round of two halves

I’ve visited Baildon on occasions for many years. So when I got a call from a pal asking if I wanted a round, I absolutely agreed. It’s a fun if not uninspiring at times loop, and with the weather being biblically bad, I knew Baildon would be open. They never seem to close it. In this case sadly for me that was its downfall.
Firstly I must point out the weather had been incredibly wet. Even my home course, which sits even higher on the moors than Baildon was closed that day. So to get a round in at all was a bonus.
The greens were in great shape considering the weather. Ran true and relatively firm. They were a pleasant surprise.

Sadly that can’t be said for the rest of the course. It was incredibly wet. Half of the holes walking up the fairway, we were essentially ice skating on mud. It was actually quite dangerous at times, especially the changes in elevation on the course. We were early out, possibly the first out as we had no one in front. However, the course got busy, and I imagine the paths from green to tee and the fairways would get more and more muddy as the traffic on them increased.
We could lift clean and place, sometimes this involved moving 20-30 yards back or to the side to avoid standing water. So for us visitors, it didn’t affect us much. We played our 18, the greens were decent and we got off.
I feel for the paying members though. The club seems unable to close the course when necessary, and because of that the condition will likely be ruined for months into the new season.

The course layout is split in two for me. There’s probably half of the holes that are a fun and interesting design to play. The 2nd and 15th spring to mind. Some of the best holes in Yorkshire IMO. There is a lot of straight up and down holes however, that leave you uninspired however. Some re-shaping and new bunker placement would elevate these holes if the club has money to invest.
Until then, it’ll always be a place to go when your course is closed, or when you’re playing with a beginner just getting into the game.
