Great weather; the course was a real challenge along with being up and down dale.
Greens where in lovely condition and quick.
Fairways where well kept and rough playable.
A real course to test your knowledge and ability.

Had the pleasure of playing Atherstone recently, a golf course which presents you with a range of challenges and different types of shot. Not a long course, but accuracy is key, particularly on the first seven holes. All departments of the course in excellent condition. Good hospitality off the course too. If they could buy the adjacent field and build a driving range and practice facilities, it would complete what is already an excellent club.

Ok I must state I am a member hear so a bit bias on the review. Atherstone is a golf course like no other, get in the wrong place and you can find a blind shot on all but 2 holes.
Work is being done to sort out problems with the greens and as off 28/12/11 the greens are in amazing condition for the time of year.
To play this course you will need strong legs as there is only one flat hole but this makes this course such a challenge to play, my scores range from 73 to 103 !!
Nice little club house , bit dated but friendly and the membership hear will point you in the right direction and even show you the course if you join one of us.
Please come and play a round at atherstone if anything to experience just how hard golf can really be. !!!

Played this course 3 times now and im still unsure of which direction im going to play my shots, its a very testing course and recomend anyone to try the course out if you think you are good at this game, Blind greens and fairways, club judgement is very hard as you can be shooting down to a green one hole and up to the next with no sight of the green. Love it and would come again to see if i remember the holes haha

Down side a couple of holes some greens have decay but it looks like they are on the case!

played this course yesterday afternoon and i would rate this course far more challenging than the brabazon at the belfry. members were very helpful in explaining course layout due to lack of a course planner but do not be put off by this, because you will miss a real test of your golf and stamina. will be returning as soon as possible.

Just played this course today.Very good challenge, on mind and body. Not many flat lie shots. Lots of up hill, down hill, ball above your feet and ball below your feet shots. Could do with a course planner a couple more marker posts and a couple of bells but for £18 a round on a Saturday there are lots more positives than negatives. A must play and I will definatly be returning.

Tough course, very hilly. Parts of the course have a "links" feel although many of the holes are set amongst a parkland of mature oak trees and with water coming in to play on three holes a genuine variety of golfing enjoyment has been created.
Atherstone has produced four Ryder Cup players.

A fabulous Golf Course, but TOUGH! We just love it.
The course is well establihed and has been laid out using the natural contours of the land, it's not an easy walk but the challenges make up for that and accuracy both off the tee and approach shots is absolutely essential - This is definately as Golf is meant to be.
The club in general, including the clubhouse is somewhat Quaint, but that just adds to the overall charm of the place.
We visit a couple of times each year, if only it could be more it's a favorite.
