What the club says: Purley Chase first opened in 1978, and celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 2003. In the last 15 years it has seen many improvements making it, without doubt, one of the finest golf courses in North Warwickshire.
The course was over 7,000 yards, off the championship tees par 72, featuring lakes on some of our shorter holes together with the lush fairways and undulating greens, making it a challenging course for the beginner and low handicap golfer alike.

Went to play the other day, found course closed and padlocked, was able to get inside the hedge to have a look at the course, how long has it been closed? It is a disgrace will take years to get this back to a decent standard.

The owner is stripping this course of its soul. A fantastic course in its day, the Europro Tour was held here for 2 years after all.\\Subscription fees are soon to be due, there are less than 5 people playing it regularly. \\There are only 9 holes open and it isn\'t worth a visit, please don\'t book it as a wedding venue either. The place needs rid of the owner.\\It was such a challenging place to play on its day, it\'s soul destroying to see it in the condition that it is now in.

Used to be a decent course and club, was astonished to have played this recently to find the appaling state the course was in, fairways as long as semi rough, greens the length of fairways, poorly maintained.
I understand a lot of members have recently left and I can see why

The club is in a terrible state at the moment, the course is not being kept properly, the range has become a wasteland and the course I loved so much as a junior has depressingly become the worst course I have played recently. As my dad is a member here (until he can get his money back) I am aware of the situation slightly and basically the owner is holding out to go bankrupt to clear his debts rather than selling to the queue of people wanting the course. By the time it is in a new owners hands it is likely to take years to get the course back to its former pride.

Played this course in July 2011 and it was in very good condition. The fairways and greens were very good although the sand in the bunkers was compacted and made playing them difficult. The staff were all very friendly and helpfull. We had a round of golf and a full breakfast for £20, can't complain at that. Will definatly play there again.

The Crown Golf Society had their May competition at Purley. The course was extremely hard due to lack of rain & in extremely windy conditions this made it a very tough test for all. Generally I would suggest this course could do with a little TLC. The bunkers were some of the worst I have ever seen & the course overall required some attention. A decent layoput with some very nice holes, It could have been so much better, shame! A little expensive given the state of the course, although the staff there were very friendly & helpful. Maybe another time this review would have been better, but try harder plaease Purley!

played april 30th 2011, shocking course, balls bounce on greens instead off rolling, most bunkers have no sand and are marked as gur, the owners or staff appear to have given up on this track, not worth the money or time
