Diabolical sloping, nearly unplayable greens

This course set up was nearly on the verge of unplayable in regards to the pin positions which were cut on many slopes. Tee to green there were some nice holes and very tight fairways requiring pinpoint accuracy in your drives.

Have played this course many times and it's deceptively tough, great greens and lots of work completed on the drainage on hole seven, to make it possible to accommodate winters golf, although oddly guest fee is the same price throughout the year. Now the downside. This is a members course and the members run it as they please, so my advice is to enjoy the course but not the facilities, the food is shocking and there is no breakfast served before eleven AM, the bar staff are rude and when speaking to members about the poor hospitality, we were told 'it's a golf course not a restaurant'. Overall, definitely play the course, then pop to the pub on the corner.

Excellent course could be better

I played Ashford yesterday. I was very impressed with how well maintained the course was. The greens were immaculate, fast and true. The course is challenging but not demoralising. Some tight tree lined fairways, the threat of water, and ditches in places, meaning course management is required. The close proximity of tee boxes is a challenge at times meaning you have to be careful not to distract other golfers. The real disappointment though is the bunkers; I was astonished that such an excellent course should have such truly terrible it was more like playing out of compressed dirt, just a thin layer of poor quality sand. The club house is rather unwelcoming too, very dated, like a dark workingmen's club from the 70's. All in all though this a a great test of golf and a beautiful course.

After some heavy rain the greens hadn’t been cut therefore were slow and wet. Narrow and tricky in places. Expensive for a visitor though.

A little disappointed with this place, booked a twilight round and was told to come up about 4 and they would get us out. We arrived about twenty minutes early and were started on the 10th on a pretty empty course and charged an extra £5 for going out before 4. The course was good, in good condition and enjoyable to play.

Very nice woodland course, with some challenging holes, the par 3s are all very different and difficult visually but actually play quite easily

Played Ashford as I was in the area for the weekend. On the whole it was in pretty good condition with some challenging holes. The only real disappointment was that they were a few temporary greens, which weren't really up to scratch. I feel something like this should be mentioned before you head out. The front 9 is quite tight, with many of the greens and tee boxes backing onto each other. Things do improve down the back 9 though. Overall a decent challnege
