Great course. Well worth a visit
Visited yesterday for the first time as a guest of a member. Really enjoyed playing the course. It is not a course where you simply hit it long. There are ditches almost strategically placed which will test you. The fairways were in excellent condition and the greens were quick. The greens were undulating on a few holes so pace is essential.

Course well set up, very good condition; even, quickish greens; cut grass left on the fairways a disappointment. Some tee boxes had the info regarding length, stroke index etc., at such a position that it could not be read when approaching, or even on the tee eg. the 10th. No facilities on the course eg. a half-way house, also a disappointment. Every par 3 is a tough hole. Overall, a very good course around which one must plot each shot.

A little disappointed with this place, booked a twilight round and was told to come up about 4 and they would get us out. We arrived about twenty minutes early and were started on the 10th on a pretty empty course and charged an extra £5 for going out before 4. The course was good, in good condition and enjoyable to play.

A well situated course just off junction 9 of M20. Everyone was very welcoming and professional from the Pro Shop to the Bar. The course was in good condition - narrow tree lined fairways. The greens were a bit woolly but it is still early in the season but it meant we could hit shots at the flag. Overall, a well presented course with good service, especially in the Pro Shop.

Very nice woodland course, with some challenging holes, the par 3s are all very different and difficult visually but actually play quite easily

Weather was bad, windy with rain. course was a little worn in places but played well considering. An old style club with some challeging holes and not for the wayward

Excellent course, not overly long but you must be straight off the tee and look out for the ditches on 14 holes.Greens very fast but true.Good practice areas for putting ,chipping and longer shots. If you want food early in the day arrange with the catering staff as they only open normally at 11:00am

Have played this course many times and it's deceptively tough, great greens and lots of work completed on the drainage on hole seven, to make it possible to accommodate winters golf, although oddly guest fee is the same price throughout the year. Now the downside. This is a members course and the members run it as they please, so my advice is to enjoy the course but not the facilities, the food is shocking and there is no breakfast served before eleven AM, the bar staff are rude and when speaking to members about the poor hospitality, we were told 'it's a golf course not a restaurant'. Overall, definitely play the course, then pop to the pub on the corner.

I played this course with a member on the 11th December after a few days heavy rain. The fairways, many of which are narrow and tree lined, were in great condition. The course requires accuracy but is fair to all golfers. My WHS is 24.3. The greens were true and fair with the usual degrees of 'reading' difficulty. The staff were very hospitable and the food was very good. I would recommend this course and will certainly be returning.

considering the weather lately in really good condition - greens were fast and in fantastic shape. Green keepers doing an amazing job of clearing leaves as well. Some bunkers not great but its been very wet

Keeps Getting Better
A lot of thought and effort has been invested in this course over recent years and it shows. The condition of the tees and fairways is great and the speed of the regularly ironed greens adds a new dimension to a course which always required careful management to avoid the natural hazards which await the unwary.

Excellent course could be better
I played Ashford yesterday. I was very impressed with how well maintained the course was. The greens were immaculate, fast and true. The course is challenging but not demoralising. Some tight tree lined fairways, the threat of water, and ditches in places, meaning course management is required. The close proximity of tee boxes is a challenge at times meaning you have to be careful not to distract other golfers. The real disappointment though is the bunkers; I was astonished that such an excellent course should have such truly terrible it was more like playing out of compressed dirt, just a thin layer of poor quality sand. The club house is rather unwelcoming too, very dated, like a dark workingmen's club from the 70's. All in all though this a a great test of golf and a beautiful course.
