Played this week in their “open week”. The course was beautifully presented and it was difficult to believe the amount of snow and rain only a few days before. The was no mud, perfect greens and lush fairways. No wonder they host this event in February! Recommend anyone to pay a visit. Front 9 holes are tight, tree lined and tactical. The back 9 more parkland, longer but more generous fairways. Easy access from central London, entrance directly opposite tram stop. Without a car, it’s perfect.

Great Course and worth a visit

A lovely character course, in great condition for the winter months. A really impressive layout with a variation of hole types, from tactically short, to long difficult par 4's. Having played in February after a period of heavy rain, the course was in great condition, and the greens exceptionally fast, and running very true. Looking forward to playing them in the summer. The course can be likened to Woburn Dukes on the back nine. Plenty of challenges for all levels of golfers. So great was the course, that i signed up to membership on the same day with an attractive offer for new members.

Exceptional course

Fairways were a little bare but the greens are outstanding and the course layout is challenging

Knocks spots off its well-known neighbour

Addington Palace presents a tough test. Tight, unforgiving front nine opens up to more room on the back, although a slip in focus will be punished on any hole.

The course is in tremendous condition all year round, with lightning fast greens and fast-draining fairways. The polar opposite to next door's The Addington, which drains poorly and, with the occasional 'Mickey Mouse' hole, doesn't live up to the 'Top 100' hype.

Addington Palace is a tough but fair test of golf - good shots get their just reward, a wayward one usually requiring the golfer to take their medicine.

Some beautiful holes that would grace any course (the Par 4 8th being a prime example), on a Capability Brown landscape, if you haven't played I just can't recommend highly enough.

Fantastic course in tree lined setting

Absolutely fantastic course and facilities. A mix of holes - some very challenging, some with great opportunities for pars and birdies. Fantastic views from many of the holes.

Great course and a good challenge especially the 2nd and 10th which are both long par 4's playing considerably up hill. Course was in good condition barring some work to the 10th tee. Greens were good and rolled well. Excellent value at £20 for twilight round and I zipped round at 3pm. Helpful chap in the pro shop. Only played here a couple of times but have enjoyed both rounds. Should play it more often.

Great winter course

There are no signs of temporary greens. Despite constant rain for the past few days, the course was dry and the greens in good condition. Plenty of parking, which you don’t always find. Lovely clubhouse and will be worth the visit in summer on it’s own.

Best in South London

Played in Aug on a week day and what a surprise. Friendly welcome, reasonable, easy access from London, lovely putting green in the middle of fine old buildings, it just lacks a driving range like so many of these traditional club. Presumably they were too good to practice at the time?!
Now about the course: a fun and charming layout with all the character of these Golden era gems. Not too long but very varied: up, down, blind, open, very short and very long par 4s. We had great fun and most importantly the greens and fairways were absolutely superb. Tough and tortuous greens..you'd better be a good putter! Used all the clubs in the bag and I can't remember last time I did. Played twice at The Addington next door. You can forget about it. How can it be rated higher than AP? It's got nice views and a few spectacular holes and errr..that is it. Pace is awful, many non-descript holes and course in dreadful condition.
I have found Addington Palace and will happily return there. All the holes are smart, except maybe the 3rd where the green is bizarrely stuck on a narrow ledge with no relief space.
Yes, the end is a bit weaker than the start, someone mention the first 12 holes being the best, but you can include 13, a classic good looking 4.5 par and the very picturesque 14 in it as well.
Ok, this is no Sunningdale, but if you want a a lovely afternoon of golf on a fun old course with excellent greens, look no further.
The best in South London, by a mile.
