What the club says: The Seve Masters course at The Shire London is laid out like few other golf courses in the world. There are six par 5s, six par 4s and six par 3s, and on both the front 9 and the back 9, no two consecutive holes are the same par, with equal numbers of par 3s, 4s and 5s. This gives maximum variety, and maximum enjoyment - a core philosophy of Seve's designs.

Course is in great condition!
Course was in great condition, and the greens are fantastic. I have to say that personally it's not one of my favourite courses to play, and has some gimmicky holes (1 and 18), I don't line the power lines over the 4th etc, but they always keep the Tees, fairways and greens in great condition.Reviewer Rating

A challenge!
Finally got to play the Shire today! What a day to play it. It was brutally hot. Absolutely loved the course. A tough, challenging layout with severe slopes on the greens. Plenty of par 3s surrounded by water. As much as I loved the course, I was a bit disappointed with the clubhouse, pro shop & driving range. The food was very nice & staff all very welcoming.Reviewer Rating

Disappointed
For a course that cost ?100 to play, it's not in a great condition. The fairways are littered with divot marks that people haven't repaired, with one fairway having more sand in the holes than any of the bunkers on the course.
The bunkers were almost unplayable, as they were rock hard

Not worth paying the green fees at the moment for this course. Played on this course yesterday and still plenty of green and fairway preparation required. Probably needs another month before course is up to cratch.Reviewer Rating

PERFECT IN EVERY WAY
Played in a corporate golf day in September. Venue and staff nice and relaxed, course beautiful, greens and fairways just perfect. The course is not long off the blues, but does demand accuracy as there is water everywhere, and you can score well on the numerous Par 5's and 3's. Can't wait to go back! Note: the on-course greens are NOT as scary as the practice green

A gem in Barnet
The course is always in great shape even when the rain has fallen as the only course in England designed by the great Seve you would expect great drainage and greens.Have played it several times and have four friends who are members.

Fantastic course although the score does not show my best day. However the course was very plush and green compared to other local courses.

Tough Conditions
Due to the recent rain the conditions under foot was tough, perfect strikes required. Also the greens have been spiked and sanded so again judgement of pace and line very challenging. Waiting for better conditions.Reviewer Rating

A typical Seve course
A typical Seve course. Par 5 seem very long, but on all holes you have to play to the course. On many other courses you can get away with 'just hitting' the ball with the right club, on The Shire you have to think about the shot you play.Reviewer Rating

Interesting course not for the feint hearted
The famous Seve Ballesteros designed course is a very nice course indeed. A bit of a mash up of varying styles from Links to classic Mediterranean gives a slightly confusing identity but it has been done very well. LOTS of water to kill your score but on the whole a great test of skill and nerve. The club house is OK, but could do with some more character and the very impersonal ordering of drinks and food via phone app is a let down.Definitely one to experience but think you're paying more for the Seve association than anything else.

Nice course
Nice Seve course, as is usual for his courses par 5's seem very long. You do need to play to the course or balls can very easily be lost in water.(Round played: Oct 2021 - Score: 107 Handicap: 30.7)

Coastal feeling parkland course
A funny course to play, with a very coastal links type feel to it for a parkland course. Plenty of undulation and some deceptive looking holes. Some of the best greens I've played on in the UK however, fast, true and very tricky!Reviewer Rating
