Interesting course, if a bit quirky. Great greens, a lot of water and all round a solid place to play.

Water on most of the holes and it starts with a par 3 needing a very precise 8 iron to a water bound green. A lot of blind shots and hidden hazards make your first round there problematic. Not one for high handicappers though, my mate off 28 took 143 shots and hated it. I am off 12 and won't hurry back but would play it again.

The facilities were very nice, the course was challenging but also very wet near the water.

The greens we also not that nice, however for this time of year it's understandable.

Good test of golf with lots of water. Probably need to play a few times to really appreciate. Not sure I would go back with all the mess from the huge numbers Canadian geese. They really spoil the place.

Course is ok. Greens well kept. Its fine but has the feel or a resort course. Compare it to other courses in the area at a similar pricepoint and we both felt it fell short. Too new if that makes some sense.

Course in excellent condition other than the bunkers which were in poor condition. Many were wet despite it not having rained for a couple of days and they did not contain enough sand.

Layout of this difficult course could be much better. Starting on a par 3 with an island green is not fun. Second hole is not much more appealing.

Will be a great course once it has matured. Good value for me as we were on a subsidised society day.

A typical Seve course

A typical Seve course. Par 5 seem very long, but on all holes you have to play to the course. On many other courses you can get away with 'just hitting' the ball with the right club, on The Shire you have to think about the shot you play.

Interesting course not for the feint hearted

The famous Seve Ballesteros designed course is a very nice course indeed. A bit of a mash up of varying styles from Links to classic Mediterranean gives a slightly confusing identity but it has been done very well. LOTS of water to kill your score but on the whole a great test of skill and nerve. The club house is OK, but could do with some more character and the very impersonal ordering of drinks and food via phone app is a let down.
Definitely one to experience but think you're paying more for the Seve association than anything else.

Nice course

Nice Seve course, as is usual for his courses par 5's seem very long. You do need to play to the course or balls can very easily be lost in water.

Great Course

Good facilities and great challenging course.
Seve certainly plays with your mind.
Tricky greens some two tiers, blind tee shots and challenging water to lay up or carry.
