the shire in heaven
The course was in excellent shape and a colleague of mine from Spain said it was up there with the best he had played.Cannot wait to play in summer time.rating 9 out of 10.

Haven't seen anything like it in the UK
Lovely challenging course - very much requires a strategic approach to many of the holes. It had the feeling of a Spanish course at times, understandable given the background - but with lots (and lots) of water. Very enjoyable round.Reviewer Rating

Played at the shire on the 18/10/18 on arrival the welcome was very friendly the four of us ordered the shire full English breakfast it arrived quickly and was cooked to perfection and a pretty good price
Out on the course we found it very interesting to play certainly not a course where you can just blast off the tee with the driver. The greens were having work carried out on them so difficult to comment on how they normally play but I wouldn’t mind questing that they get very fast overall every thing at the shire was presented very nicely all the staff were friendly and efficient I can’t comment on value for money as I fortunately didn’t pay
We all agreed that we would re visit next spring

An absolute must llay
What a golf course. Booked for my dad’s birthday and always wanted to play it. Made the journey and was absolutely worth it. Hospitality was excellent, the pro’s were helpful and even gave us a discounted rate which was brilliant. Food was good too. Golf course was fantastic: layout, condition, everything. Challenging but fair, fairways absolutely immaculate considering the weather this year has destroyed most golf courses. Greens slopey but fair. Every hole has a challenge and designed perfectly by the GOAT. Love the fact the clubhouse has pictures and memorabilia everywhere. Really is a special place. An absolute must play.Reviewer Rating

Wow factor vistas
Played here on a deal. Very pretty course where every bunker has a job. Island greens, huge in size and complicated to read. Lots of water and you need to plot way round. Amenities are good, range not so much. Surprisingly for fairly flat looking course, felt quite tired at end, although was carrying at aged 69.(Round played: Aug 2018 - Score: 94 Handicap: 19.3)

Worth a visit
First time I have played this course, and would definitely go back, as we only paid £35 for the round. The course was very good condition, and the greens the best I played all year. Just shame 8 could play the back 9 holes the same as the front 9.(Round played: May 2018 - Score: 100 Handicap: 23.6)

Have wanted to play The Shire for the past couple years after hearing nothing but good things & was not disappointed. The course was in excellent condition & definitely rewards the more adventurous Golfer!! The par 3 island green 1st is easily the hardest start to a round I've had & the other par 3's are up there with the best I've played. If you're in the area I'd definitely recommend trying for yourself.

Course worth visiting
