The layout has been overhauled on two occasions, with Martin Ebert the latest to add his masterful touch to the superb facility. The opening nine is a perfect introduction to the course, before the second half dials up the drama and requires terrific shot-making capabilities. Jack Nicklaus famously stated: “Within the second nine are some of my favourite holes,” and when Nicklaus speaks, you merely listen.

The facilities are excellent, and the course is truly a pleasure to the eye. It’s the most prestigious course I’ve ever played and I would highly recommend it.”

Heswall Golf Club

Situated in the heart of the Wirral, Heswall Golf Club is a truly unique and memorable offering. The layout provides outstanding views of the Dee Estuary and Welsh hills, whilst the standard of golf on offer is mightily impressive too. Patrick Reed was crowned the 2006 Junior Open champion at Heswall, before major champion Matthew Fitzpatrick triumphed in the Northern Junior Open in 2012.
