England Golf Plans Three New County Rules Schools

By: Golf Shake | Fri 29 May 2015

England Golf will run three County Rules Schools in 2015. England Golf has run 16 rules schools across the country in the past 4 years, all proving very popular and attracting almost 500 people in total. Successful delegates qualify as county referees and can go on to assist at county tournaments.

Toby Thorne, England Golf Championship Manager, said: “We are delighted by the interest in our rules schools and the invitations we receive from across the country. These three new dates provide further opportunities for people to attend a rules school on their doorstep.”

The County Rules Schools are open to all members of golf clubs affiliated to England Golf. Delegates should have at least a basic understanding of the Rules of Golf and are recommended to try the R&A’s online Level 1 Rules Academy before attending.

The format of each school is a mix of outdoor practical demonstrations, refereeing role-play scenarios and some indoor tutorials. There is an exam on the second day of the course.

The details for the events are as follows:

The Shropshire Golf Club, West Midlands
22 & 23 September, 2015
Entry deadline: Fri 31st July, 2015

Mount Murray Golf Club, Isle of Man
25 & 26 September, 2015
Entry deadline:  Friday 31 July, 2015

Yeovil Golf Club, South West
7 & 8 October, 2015
Entry deadline: Friday 7 August, 2015

The fee for attending an England Golf County Rules School is £50, which includes tuition, lunch, teas and coffees.  Priority will be given to applicants from the host counties, but delegates from other counties are welcome to apply and will be provided a place where possible.
