Defeat Winter with New Under Armour ColdGear Baselayer

By: Adam Smith | Fri 16 Sep 2011

This is an extremely important time for Under Armour in their development as a brand that can help golfers perform better by wearing the right clothing.

Strength, flexibility, endurance are just a few of the key benefits you’ll feel from wearing the first compression shirt built just for golfers.

Under Armour, has been at the very forefront of warmth without weight base layer technology since it began, but now they have truly unveiled a radical new compression technology designed to help you play better golf.

ArmourStability ColdGear is an exciting new development in the performance apparel market as it is the first garment designed by Under Armour specifically to boost your golf performance, helping you swing better, hit more powerful consistent shots and feel less tired after your round.

According to research the most common golfing injuries occur in the back, particularly the lower back. In fact the average golf professional sustains two golfing injuries a year losing five weeks of play. Under Armour has targeted this problem with ArmourStability. Strategic stabilisers built into the fabric of the shirt support the lower back, improve your core strength and help you to stay balanced and maintain good posture throughout the swing.

The Stabilisers have the added benefit of reducing fatigue so that your muscles stay fresh and you can stay focused. As your golfing muscles are less tired you’ll find you have increased stamina and are capable of making a more consistent repeatable golf swing from the first tee shot to the last drive. This in turn will prevent those nasty horror scores creeping onto your scorecard towards the end of a round, which are usually the result of tired, uncoordinated muscles firing out of sync.

The ArmourStability design also features mesh ventilation zones that speed evaporation, helping to regulate your body temperature on hot or cold days, making it the ideal garment for year-round play.

“The ArmourStability compression top helps me make a better swing,” said European Tour professional and Under Armour ambassador Ross Fisher. “I feel stronger, more flexible and capable of making my best swing throughout the round, and there is definitely a noticeable reduction in my muscle fatigue post-round.”

The ArmourStability design concept is the result of 12 months of intensive study and research into the golf swing. “There’s no doubt this is the most innovative and advanced golf compression top we have ever designed,” explain the Under Armour design team. “The forces of the golf swing put an incredible strain on the lower back. We therefore wanted to produce a product that would offer the golfer support around these weak muscle groups, while helping them maintain that all-important core strength, vital for making a strong, athletic golf swing. With ArmourStability we discovered the answer.”

The ArmourStability Golf top is available in Shortsleeve with a recommended retail price of £55 and Longsleeve £60.
