8 Players to Watch at The Evian Championship
There are few locations on the planet more aesthetically pleasing than Lake Geneva, and that will serve as the magnificent backdrop as many of the finest golfers on the planet compete in this week's Evian Championship, the fourth of five majors in the women's game.
It will be the 12th edition of this tournament since it was granted major status back in 2013, and there are some fascinating stories coming into the week as we enter a busy month that also includes the AIG Women's Open at Royal Porthcawl in Wales.
Last year, it was Japan's Ayaka Furue who won a gripping event with an eagle on the final hole. Finishes don't come much better than that and organisers will be hoping to see something similar occur this coming Sunday.
The weather promises to be spectacularly good throughout the championship, meaning that low scoring is likely, but who is going to keep up with that hot pace? Here are some of the players that we are looking out for in this beautiful corner of France.
Lottie Woad
The emerging English star is the world number one amateur and she further emphasised her exceptional potential by dominating the field in Ireland last weekend to claim her first professional title by six strokes.
Woad missed the cut on her debut appearance 12 months ago, but we should fully expect the 21-year-old to improve on that and perhaps even feature on a major leaderboard as she did last year at St Andrews.
Mimi Rhodes
Current leader of the LET's money list after winning three events earlier this season, it's been a remarkable rookie campaign for Rhodes who only turned professional last year after the Curtis Cup. She made her major debut at the Women's PGA Championship a few weeks ago, missing the cut, but this English-born, Spanish-raised player should feel more comfortable back in Europe.
She may well be a Solhem Cup contender in 2026.
Jeeno Thitikul

The world number two wasn't able to reel in Minjee Lee at the PGA Championship last month, but the Thai golfer is surely the best player on the planet yet to win a major.
She missed the cut here last time, but had recorded a trio of top ten finishes before that, meaning that her course form is solid, and the 22-year-old, who has won on both the LPGA and LET in 2025, could be the woman to beat.
Minjee Lee
Speaking of Minjee Lee, the Australian etched her place alongside the greats of her nation by securing a third major title at PGA Frisco in June. That triumph came after a somewhat fallow period for the 29-year-old, so it will be intriguing to see whether that latest success is the beginning of something new, especially given that she returns to Evian as a former champion, having won here in 2021.
Nelly Korda
12 months ago it was all about the American and her incredible season in 2024, but the world number one remains winless this year and barring a runner-up finish at the US Open has underperformed in the majors to this point in 2025.
That said, we know what Korda is capable of and her record at Evian is reliably solid, if somewhat unspectacular by her standards, but there will be burning ambition to improve on that this week.
Mao Saigo
Someone who has won a major this year is Mao Saigo, if you remember that the Japanese golfer won the Chevron Championship back in April, surviving a massive playoff with four other players to earn her breakthrough title.
Having finished third at Evian back in 2022, Saigo clearly likes it here and may fancy her chances of quickly adding to her major tally.
Brooke Henderson

Another player who loves life on Lake Geneva is Brooke Henderson, the Canadian, who won her in 2022 before coming close to successfully defending 12 months later. It's been a while since we last saw the 27-year-old feature prominently on the grandest stages and her form in 2025 hasn't exactly been glowing, but where better for that to change than here?
Celine Boutier
It's now a couple of years since Celine Boutier won a major title on French soil, a dream achievement for any player in their own country, but the majors since then have been fairly dismal for the 31-year-old. However, the Solheim Cup stalwart has shown encouraging form of late, including a runner-up finish at the Mizuho Americas Open in May, so it wouldn't be a stretch to imagine her contending once more at Evian.
