Windy conditions made the Fields Ranch East Course at PGA Frisco a formidable test, but it was Australia's Minjee Lee who held her nerve to claim a third major title at the Women's PGA Championship.
Having started with a four-shot lead, Lee bogeyed three of her opening six holes to give hope to the pack, before showing her class by playing the remaining holes in one-under to secure a memorable triumph by three shots.
Describing her approach to the pressures of the final day, Lee said: "Just stick to my game plan. It’s a battle against myself pretty much, especially with how tough the conditions were this whole week.
"Not just today. It’s just amplified today because it’s a major Sunday, but yeah, just be patient, take every shot as it comes.
"I pretty much I saw every single leaderboard and I knew exactly where I was, pretty much all of today, so I checked the scores and then I just came back to each shot and tried to execute it the best that I could, so I played within myself today."
Winning the Evian in 2021 and US Women's Open in 2022, Lee had endured a frustrating 18 months prior to this latest success, but the hard-fought triumph reasserts her status as one of the true greats of Australian golf.
