Brian Campbell What's In The Bag And Player Profile
Article Updated in July 2025
Brian Campbell, the shortest hitter on the PGA Tour, has secured his second victory of a memorable breakthrough season for the 32-year-old, defeating Emiliano Grillo in a playoff to win the John Deere Classic.
In February, Campbell, enjoying incredible luck after a tee shot heading out of bounds crashed into a tree and bounced back into the fairway, beat Aldrich Potgieter in extra holes to win the Mexico Open.
But this time was somewhat less dramatic as Grillo missed the fairway on the 18th at TPC Deere Run and failed to make par, meaning that a comfortable two-putt was enough for Campbell on this occasion.

Player Profile
Born on March 6, 1993, in Newport Beach, California, Brian Campbell was introduced to golf at an early age.
Growing up in a sports-mad family, Campbell’s older brother, Derek, was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies and played baseball at the University of California.
Campbell attended Mater Dei High School in California. His impressive performance in the AJGA Mission Hills Desert Junior and top 20 finishes in three other AJGA tournaments marked him out as an emerging talent, drawing the attention of numerous colleges. Hel chose to attend the University of Illinois and in his junior year he set a school record with a season scoring average of 71.08.
He qualified for the 2015 US Open at Chambers Bay as an amateur, finishing in a tie for 27th place and was the tournament’s low amateur.
He turned professional in 2015 and although he gained his PGA Tour card, he lost it in 2017 but vowed to get it back. His determination finally paid off in 2024 when he secured his spot on the PGA Tour for the 2025 season by finishing seventh on the points list after three runner-up finishes on the Korn Ferry Tour.
Campbell’s consistency during the 2024 season was a testament to his work ethic. He missed only four cuts in 25 Korn Ferry Tour starts, finishing in the top five for total birdies, scrambling, and driving accuracy.
