Field Overcomes Tough Conditions at TP Tour London Pairs

By: Golfshake Editor | Wed 26 Aug 2020

The London Pairs is one of the oldest and most popular events on the TP Tour, but this year's field battled the additional challenge of high winds and heavy rain that provided a stern test, however, that did not diminish the quality of play at Ealing Golf Club - Highly Recommended on Golfshake - with the staff at the venue delivering a course that was immaculate with smooth greens that rolled true.

Former European Tour star Andrew Marshall and young Jack Kelly from Sandy Lodge shot an impressive 64, but finished one shot behind the winning total that was set by Luke Turbutt and Ryan James from the Midlands, whose 63 featured no bogeys on the card, a stunning result in the face of the conditions.

It was Luke’s first win as a professional, and Ryan’s second.

This tournament came five days after the Tour stopped by the acclaimed Foxhills in Surrey, where Challenge Tour player Matt Ford claimed his second victory on this circuit. Staged across the magnificent Bernard Hunt Course, Ford compiled a five-under par round of 68 to secure the first prize, with former English Amateur Champion Todd Clements two shots back in the runner-up position.

Following a short break, the TP Tour moves onto the superb Olton Golf Club in the West Midlands on September 14th, with Daniel Gaunt currently leading the Order of Merit.
