Golfshake.com Open 2 further results

Last week saw 2 further events take place in the exciting Golfshake.com Open which is being played at De Vere Wychwood Park on Saturday 19th September.

Yorkshire/North East - Willow Valley Golf Club

The Yorkshire event which doubled up to cover the North East took place at Willow Valley Golf Club on Monday 3rd August.  The event was organised by Paul Cook who commented:

'We ended up having a weather day indeed, sunshine and lots of wind with the reasonable condition, greens were quite fast, fairways still a little long but still a nice course. Some of the holes are designed for a real treat with lots of water, bunkers and hazards everywhere hence the warning sign on the first tee. This course is not to be taken lightly for the competent golfers.

A turn out of 22 golfers mostly all in the higher handicap section and it was a tie for the first position both golfers shooting an respectable 37 poinnts each but on count back the first section was won by Stephen Martin (37 pts) followed by Steve Lee (37 pts) runner up. Out of the lower handicap section, Stephen Slack shot 29 points with runner up Adrian Hope on 28.'

So both Stephen Martin and Stephen Slack go forward to the Golfshake.com Open with Steve Lee being added to the back up list. For full results view here - /golf/view/808/scores/

South/London - Pyrford Golf Club

After successful events in the South West well near Newbury and the South East, Dean Elliot stepped forward to organise an event for those more central with a Qualifier in the South/London area on Thursday 6th August at Pyrford Golf Club .

Dean did exceptionally well organising an event at short notice in a few weeks and getting 32 golfers to compete which was a great turn out.   Someone commented:

'What a great venue Dean Elliot picked for the london/South Open qualifier. Pyrford golf club gave golfers of all abilities the chance to shine as the scorers will tell. Well done dean for a very well organised event at a very nice venue. again well done Dean , great event, thanks a lot'

With an even field the match was hard fought with eventual winners:

Low handicap group: Jude Edwards 38 points the runner up was Christian Ballauff 37 points

High handicap group: Simon Derbyshire 40 points and runner up Chris Hollesen 39 points

Best Endeavor was Narinder Ryatt with 16 points.

Highest scoring non competing was Clive Dakin with 41 points.

The final event to qualify will take this place in South Yorkshire at Crookhill Golf Club - /golf/view/5726/

The golfshake.com Open is an exciting new feature on the golfshake.com events calendar and sees members take part in member organised regional qualifying events throughout the country.  The top placed players from 2 handicap categories will qualify and gain FREE entry into the final taking place on the 19th September at Wychwood Park in Cheshire.

As well as the obvious bragging rights of playing for the best region and winning the overall event, we have also got together an exciting prize pack which consists of:

• 3 night break at a De Vere Luxury Lodge of up to 6 people
• Golf break at De Vere Oulton Hall for 2 people including DBB and 54 holes of golf. This prize also includes a Nike Academy Experience including tuition at the newly opened Nike Academy.
• A Golf break for 2 people -2 nights stay at any De Vere venue (excluding Cameron House)
