Applications have become a large part of what makes smartphones, smartphones. As golfers, we are always looking to improve and there are an array of apps that can help with that mission.

Below, we note 18 golf apps that you should consider downloading in 2025 if you want to improve your golf game - or have some fun with mates!

Best Golf Apps

Golfshot: Golf GPS & Scorecard

Golfshot is the first application to bring the golfer Auto Shot Tracking (AST), which is made possible through Apple Watch. Used by over five million golfers in 169 countries, you can automatically track every shot to be given accurate information in regard to how far you are from the pin. The app comes pre-loaded with 46,000 courses and you can also track and post scores to your World Handicap Index.

Golf GPS SwingU

Featured Content

SwingU is a fantastic app and if you are new to the game of golf, the free version that the company offer will provide yardages to the front and back of greens. If you are impressed with the trial edition, then an annual purchase will unlock yardages to the middle of the greens and also factor in the wind speed - acting like a virtual caddie!

R&A: Rules of Golf

The R&A’s digital handbook for the rules of golf will provide a hasty reminder as to what you can and can’t do legally on the golf course. Additionally, it will become especially handy when you and your playing partner are debating where you can drop! If you often lack confidence around the rules of the sport, then this application will clear up any future uncertainty. There are even daily rules quizzes to help you stay sharp on your knowledge!

Hole 19: Golf GPS & Scorecard

Hole 19 is similar to SwingU, considering that both apps offer their basic version free of charge. More than 43,000 courses have been pre-loaded into Hole 19’s database, allowing for the app to be used throughout the world. If you are impressed with the trial version, then you can upgrade to premium and gain access to club recommendation, handicap calculator, distance tracker and many more game improvement benefits.

Swing Profile Golf Analyzer

Working on your swing path is no easy task and while lessons certainly help you achieve your desired outcome, it’s easy to slip back into bad habits. Golf Analyzer is here to ensure that you never regress again. Through the app, you can auto-replay your recorded shot to ensure you remain with the correct technique, draw lines to influence swing path and trim videos to just two seconds to ensure you are solely watching your swing.

Toptracer Range

Have you had the luxury of visiting a driving range that has Toptracer technology installed? If you have, then you’ll understand just how impressive the Toptracer brand is. While you can use the technology without having the app or an account, if you want to play the virtual games such as courses or approach practice, you’ll need to sign in and the app is completely free. Moreover, if you log into your account at the range, all of your shots will be recorded and saved to a database for the golfer to peruse whenever they wish.

GolfNow

If you are a member at a golf club and seldom play alternative layouts, then this application will not be for you. However, if you find yourself travelling course to course, then GolfNow can secure tee times at some of the best clubs for a reduced fee! Simply select the golf course you are looking to play and the app will do the rest. Here’s a tip: If you see a flame emoji next to one of the pricing, it means that it is an exclusive and cheaper deal only available with GolfNow.

Golfshake App

The Golfshake App allows golfers to keep a record of their scores, on-course playing statistics and also provides a golfer with a handicap that can be updated through submitting more scores. The application is detailed and allows golfers to track their FIR, GIR and putts - plus it all features all the latest Golfshake news, reviews, travel and golf course content.

Golf Battle

One of the most popular golf-based mobile games, Golf Battle can result in hours of endless fun. Whether you opt to play against people online or vie off against your friends, this application can provide both. There are five different themes - which act as courses - and two game modes. Classic requires the golfer to finish with as few shots as possible, while rush encourages the players to finish the hole as fast as they can - regardless of how many strokes have been taken. A truly remarkable game and considering it’s a free download, there’s nothing to lose by trialing it. Spoiler: It's pretty addictive.

PGA Tour

The PGA Tour app is for everyone who shows even an inkling of interest into the main golfing tour of the world. Through the app, you can experience: Real-time leaderboard for live events, live player scorecards that feature shot trails, access to live video for every PGA Tour event, course insights, enable push notifications for your favorite players and be informed about all of the developments from the Champions and Korn Ferry Tours. Another great feature of this app is the ability to pin the leaderboard and a specific player's live tracking to your lock screen. This allows you to get caught up with your favourite players, without even unlocking your phone.

Wellputt App

Putting is such a fundamental part of golf and as amateur golfers, we often neglect practice time with the short stick. However, if we want to improve our scores, then we must delegate sufficient time to improving our ability to sink more putts. Wellputt App comes equipped with over 50 exercises to help make practicing putting as smooth as possible. The application was developed by Cameron McCormick - who coaches Jordan Spieth - so we know the content inside will be valuable and insightful.

Me And My Golf

Me And My Golf are a duo that are comprised of Piers Ward and Andy Proudman, two coaching professionals who have helped over one million amateur golfers transform their golf game. There is a large collection of videos on the site and with numerous coaching plans such as Break 100, Break 90, Complete Putting, Flexible In 15 and Golf At Home, there will be a package that would benefit the majority of amateur golfers.

Golf Clash

Arguably the biggest golf game on the mobile phone market, Golf Clash has been rated by a whopping 396,000 people! The games that will see you compete against random golfers around the world are quick and provide the perfect distraction if you are looking to kill five or ten minutes. This game is updated frequently and with the implementation of features such as weekly leagues, it’s easy to understand why so many golf fans have been attracted to this game.

The Masters Tournament

Don’t say this too loudly, but we all know The Masters is the pinnacle of golf and no other tournament can offer the distinctiveness of Augusta National. The application is brilliant for Masters week, offering you live streams of featured content and a live scoreboard to keep you informed on all the action. If you can’t view the Masters due to broadcasting contracts, then The Masters Tournament app is an excellent alternative.

Imagine Golf: Lower Handicap

We are all aware of the importance of the mindset in the sport of golf. However, for the vast majority, unlocking mental tranquility is not something that is easily achieved; Imagine Golf is there to help correct that through a collection of audible lessons. There’s a real emphasis placed on mentally preparing yourself and with the latest project being released from Butch Harmon, the monumental figures of golf are in. Are you?

WGT Golf

Another impressive mobile-based golf game, but WGT Golf boasts the best graphics available to the platform. Included within the application are more than a dozen championship golf courses, a golf simulation for you to trial different shots, several game formats including 9 and 18 holes and the ability to join country clubs and meet like-minded people. Additionally, as you progress, you’ll unlock better equipment which includes Callaway and TaylorMade.

Swing Index

Completing this list is Swing Index and the application is unique. Upon successful download, you will be required to undergo a handicap challenge. Through the questions, the app will determine what areas of your game need to be improved, if you wish to achieve the desired handicap. If you find yourself training at the range but meaninglessly hitting balls, Swing Index can provide more direction into practicing - while developing your skillset as a golfer at a rapid rate.

We have presented 18 fantastic applications for golfers who should consider downloading in 2025.

Have your favourite apps been included? If not, what have we missed out?
