What the club says: Pyrford is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and wildlife. Ringed by magnificent woodland the fairways weave between sculptured mounds and the 23 acres of lakes, fringed with bulrushes, reeds and lilies, give the course its distinctive and unique characteristic with water ever present.
The 6,230 yard course is separated into 2 loops providing a choice of starting positions. Every hole is different and whilst the course may not be the longest by today’s modern designs a good score will require careful strategy and use of every club in your bag. The best players may well be tempted to take on the challenge of longer carries yet the design gives the less experienced player a safer and more productive route.
Different combinations of tee positions provide a challenge for players of all abilities and the unique design ensures no two rounds are the same.

Dan was great to deal with and the staff on the day were great.
The food was fantastic especially the burger.
Play was slow but 1st week out of lockdown so can be forgiven.
Would 100% book another society, the club is set up so well to deliver this.

Alliss gem
love this course! mid winter greens and fairways were fantastic....lots of work being done to improve course even more... lots of water!! water everywhere!!

Worth a visit
A lot of work ongoing around the course currently so many areas of GUR but still worth a visit. Greens in great condition even though recently tined, still running true. Must be very fast in summer! A lot of water and a course you have to consider your shots and club selection.(Round played: Dec 2020 - Score: 93 Handicap: 16)

Cold & very wet conditions
Very cold and very wet conditions greens were in very good conditions fairways very wet with a lot fenced offTee box grass a little long and very wet
Rough very unforgiving

Course in good condition
Course in really good condition. Pace of play was very efficient, much faster than when we played in the summer. Very challenging in the wind off the white tees.

Course management is key
Positive is that the course is undergoing much needed investment, since change of ownership in early summer, which bodes well. Greens very good. Fairways need a bit more time and bunkers being redone. Negatives are that course is really busy and hosts a lot of societies, which has obviously helped with much needed revenue, but whilst the course is short, the water especially, makes accuracy important on nearly all the holes.

Great course. Some improvements could make it great!
Myself and a few others visited this course in the middle of October 2020 and it is in by far a better condition than most courses I have visited over the last 12-18 months. Given the extremely wet weather we had, followed by no rain at all for months this course hardly shows that. The greens are in immaculate condition and quite fast which was a welcomed change to my local course. There are some significant improvements going on around the course which include around water, fairways and layout of the course. I haven't seen this level of improvement works in a single course, ever!
The course is relatively short but don't be fooled, it isn't an easy course with lots of water in play. Add this to the fact that none of the par 5's are reachable in two unless you are extremely accurate. The short Par 4's are also very guarded making the risk far outweigh the reward but this is what makes golf interesting and fun.
We paid £30 each for a four ball on a Monday afternoon. This represents extremely good value for money. I would have easily paid more, maybe not without knowing the course though as it looks easy due to the yardage.
The only issue was some slow play which isn't expected on a Monday afternoon. I dread to think what it is like on a weekend. I don't think the layout helps the slow play with plenty of waiting for fairways to clear thanks to the short distance. That being said I don't think this is any different to any other course. My local course is around the same price and can be a hell of a lot slower than this and no where near as good a course.
I do think some people want wagyu steak for the price of mince, this course is fillet for the price of fillet. Would highly recommend.

Water everywhere but fun
Lovely course that will give you a real test as there is alot of water. Have think your way around this place.(Round played: Oct 2020 - Score: 96 Handicap: 17)

Interesting course, cursed by slow play
Pyrford, set in classic Surrey golf territory, is a nice little course. The layout is neat, making it way more challenging than the yardage would suggest. There is a lot of water, perhaps a bit of which could have been added to the bare fairways, but the greens were generally good to excellent. But 4 hours 45 for a round, with 5 minute Waits on every tee? Really should have been more done to ease congestion.

Great track & friendly staff
Plenty of water but the greens are some of the best we?ve played.Lots of interesting holes that need thinking through.
Great bar & patio area. Watch out for the on course drinks buggy though - prices are a bit steep. Wait until the 19th.

Senond time back after a very long time. Dan and his excellent staff are bring this Phoenix from the flames back to life. It will take time but the erly signs are very evident. Greens now heading towards medium fast from sluggish a month ago. Staff very friendly and helpful and I am looking forward to playing here more regularly.Well done guys, this is an excellent rate of progress

Feedback from my round
Here’s a quick summary of our day. Safe to say we will be back & I’ll mention the course to a couple of societies I play in ????Greeting on arrival was very friendly & we were checked in quickly which is important now we are arriving close to T times.
Having a drinks buggy sets the club apart from many of the other courses we’ve booked through Golf Now.
Course was by far the best we’ve played in this very unusual summer. The greens were fantastic & it was good not to see many pitch marks.
The setting outside at the 19th was really nice & table service/payment friendly & efficient.
One minor issue which is really only relevant for new visitors is signage. We took a wrong turn on way to the 10th. Maybe add a sign next to driving range one?

Don't bother
Played with a member there, he apologised for the condition before we even started, thankfully he paid for the green fee as it was really poor. The manager / senior staff member said it had improved over the past month, what was it like before?! We did pop into the bar after and it was like a game of hide and seek to try and find a person that work their, 2x office staff but no bar staff.????
