What the club says: Pyrford is set in an area of outstanding natural beauty and wildlife. Ringed by magnificent woodland the fairways weave between sculptured mounds and the 23 acres of lakes, fringed with bulrushes, reeds and lilies, give the course its distinctive and unique characteristic with water ever present.

The 6,230 yard course is separated into 2 loops providing a choice of starting positions. Every hole is different and whilst the course may not be the longest by today’s modern designs a good score will require careful strategy and use of every club in your bag. The best players may well be tempted to take on the challenge of longer carries yet the design gives the less experienced player a safer and more productive route.

Different combinations of tee positions provide a challenge for players of all abilities and the unique design ensures no two rounds are the same.

Very good greens. Cracking layout of course. Friendly club. Great bar staff. Some bunkers are very poor, some are very good.. and a work in progress.
New irrigation/sprinkler system that is being fine tuned over the winter. Inland links feel when its windy.
New manager has made huge improvements in getting the basics right. Play it.

Challenging course in good condition

Pyrford is a great local course in the North Surrey area and while there are many courses around, this is definitely one of the better options. As with all of the courses in 2018, the fairways and greens took a beating from the heatwave but have now recovered well and will be in great shape after the winter.

New General Manager is also doing a great job with the facilities, keep it up!

seen better days

Used to play here years ago and has taken a turn for the worse. Weather hasnt been great so understandably wet but fairways hadnt been cut and needed reseeding. greens to be fair were good but slow. Sounds like it is under new management now so should improve but I won't be coming back until the summer to see.

Many thanks for taking the time to leave your review, due to the level of rainfall we have experienced in October our normal maintenance routes have been impossible to achieve. We would love to see you back at the start of the new season to see the many improvements we have planned for the winter months.

Course is always in great condition. Lots of water so you have to be accurate. I was not so lost lots of balls in the unforgiving rough and water

Playing as a members guest and having not played here for a number of years, I was generally impressed with the course condition. The greens were really good, fairways were decent too. However the bunkers are the only let down, not enough sand and fair too many ‘rocks’. The aren’t particularly long but are tricky, Club choice is crucial.

Great track spoiled by the condition of the fairways. Plenty of water and sometimes hidden from view. Some great holes on a good designed course.
Greens in good condition let down by the fairways.

Thank you for your review - Unfortunately our fairway irrigation was out of action for a large part of the 2018 season - This has now all been resolved with a substantial investment in a new system. We now only have 3 fairways that are in need of renovation. We are currently topdressing, over seeding and feeding these fairways.

We look forward to seeing you back at the club very soon.

poor

Its a real shame this course has been left to get inti the state it is has, it could be a fantastic course. A really good layout with the water making some holes a real challenge. But the condition and staff let this place down. The bunkers are the worst ive ever seen, hardly any sand and full of stones, bumpy and very slow greens, fairways patchy and generally poor. Played it after bidding at my home clubs captains day auction. Crown golf are either going bust or this club is going to close as no money is being spent here. Feel for any members they have left having to play this place every week, makes me appreciate my home members owned club even more.

Going downhill

Played Pyrford yesterday for the first time this year and was extremely disappointed. Fairway bunkers are more like quarries, fairways ( especially back nine ) are in shocking condition. Greens were lumpy and slow. Not sure what has happened to the course but it seems very little money/time being spent on it. Glad we got a discount as would NOT pay the £45 it is asking on tee off times. Avoid until it improves

Below average

Played Pyrford yesterday for the first time in a couple of years. Was very disappointed in the whole experience. When I arrived I ordered a breakfast, order was wrong and when I asked for cutlery and sauces I was told they are round the corner and that the colleague was too busy to get them!

Course very poor for this time of year. Fairways on the back 9 aren't even worth hitting as there is no grass what so ever. Tee boxes are awful. I think we played on 3 flat ones at most. Greens pretty slow as well.

I've played Pyrford many times and usually it's one of my preferred courses in the area. However today I found the course to be in shocking condition. Fairways awful - bare, dry dirt. Tee boxes haven't been moved in weeks it seems, the whole thing was just one big divot. Bunkers are more gravel than sand.

Played bank holiday Monday, 0800 tee off. The course was busy. We got out on time, first few holes no issue, but then a backlog formed and we were having to wait on every hole from about the 6th onwards. \\The front 9 is OK. i am not a fan of courses where you have fairways right next to each other, with errant drives possibly going onto other greens etc. This was an issue on a few holes on the front 9, but other than that it was decent.\\The back 9 was brilliant. Pretty much every hole had a very significant water hazard on it making them very interesting to play. \\The greens were in good condition, maybe a little long. But the slowish nature meant you could have a good go at putts without the worry of rolling it 30 feet past!\\All in all I was very impressed with the course and the condition (tee boxes need some work).\\Bar stuff were polite and helpful buyt serously understaffed given it was a sunny bank holiday morning!
